A successful tasting with Adelberts quadrupel previously led me to this dubbel. Obtained at a nearby craft beer/liquor store this weekend, the 750 ml bottle is chilled to try to beat the current 100+ weather in West Texas. I pour into my Chimay glass, what the heck I am an optimist, to see a reddish brown body topped by a thin eggshell white head that does show a nice carbonation. The nose is fruit, ribbon candy and wheat bread. Finally a drink, hey not bad. There is delivered a thick maltiness, yeast, a bit of apricot and red plum. All very pleasant, worth the try. 6/24/18

Pours a hazy light brown from a bottle, looks like some macerated fruit peel (or juniper berries?) floating around in the bottom. Aroma and flavor are a little bit of a true unsweetened ginger ale, some gin in the finish. Thin and astringent. Okay beer.

At the source: pours light brown with a small head. Aroma is dark fruits and yeastiness. Not a super powerful quad. Somewhat sweet with a good deal of flavor. Nice aftertaste. Good, but far from great in this vaunted style.
