Taster at their Motomachi tap room. Hazy pastel yellow. Big, dank NZ hop nose, tropical fruit, weed, resins. Wheat flavor, crisp, dank hops, lingering sweetness. Best of the three.

Grey, rainy weather has me wanting a darker take on an IPA and luckily enough I’d picked one up in Kobe.
Open Air Little Monsters
Brown IPA 6%
Nice amber color with thick fluffy light beige foam and a piney white pepper aroma. Full bodied and quite smooth the taste is bitter pine, white pepper and then sweet maltiness.
It hit the spot.

Open Air x Our Brewing Fancy a Cuppa?
Earl Grey English Ale 5.5%
This reddish brown beer with thick beige foam has a fantastic earl grey aroma. Once you pour the bottom of the can the beer becomes murky and you get flecks of what I assume are tea at the bottom of the glass. If you’re looking for a nicer looking beer leave 5% in the can to avoid the dregs or have it on tap.
The taste on this medium bodied beer is spot on. Top knotch beer/tea hybrid but who is Our Brewing?

Quite hoppy. Not totally for me to be honest. No hint of pils. But it’s good still.

Can at Luqua Kitchen, Osaka Station. Pours a hazy orange, pastel like. Nose is coconut and pineapple hops, orange juice and tropical fruit. Sweet fruity, juicy flavor, coconut, pineapple, Sabro hops I guess, more like a NE PA. Nicely hopped.

Open Air New Path IPA 6.5% Made with three hops I’m unfamiliar with but are apparently new ones out of Poland(ych 303, palatial and oktawia). The aroma is like candied muscat, peach and melon. Medium bodied but pretty dry. This tastes great, really unique flavors. Melon, tutti fruity… I’m having a hard time pinning it down but I get these flashes of memories of the candies I ate as kid. I’ve gotta say I’m loving this. New fruity hop flavors, well balanced modern IPA. I wouldn’t call it a hazy even though it’s a matte straw gold in color. Great, try it if you see it.

Open Air Remix APA 6% Strangely higher in ABV than a recent IPA I had from them. Anyways, Open Air is solidifying themselves as one of my favorite breweries in Kansai with solid beers and reasonable prices. This orange matte gold beer has a candyish stone fruit aroma. Medium bodied with tutti-frutti and sweet grapefruit rind. Solid drinkable brew.

Recently, I’m way more into the modern take on a west coast IPA than a hazy ipa. Open Air Between Heaven and Hops West Coast IPA 5.5% Murky gold with thick foam that lasts. It has a great sweet mango orange apricot aroma. Medium to light in body with a fairly dry finish. Up front it’s sweet and fruity but it ends in a crisp herbal hop bitterness with notes of citrus zest. Really digging this, very crushable. Cam from the Motomachi Taproom.

Open Air Beach Nectar 6% Todays my last day of summer vacation so we hit the beach and I brought a summer hazy IPA that I picked up at the Motomachi Taproom. It says hazy IPA but the ingredients list includes lactose and vanilla. The aroma is herbal and tropical hops but not quite to the juicy level. The look is golden hazy with off-white foam. It’s medium bodied and has a pretty smooth mouthfeel. The taste is vanilla and coconut cream with sweet orange in the finish. I was expecting a juice bomb but this is quite sweet, almost a pastry/milkshake IPA. Can from the Motomachi Taproom

Lightly spicy aroma with distinct lime notes. Lovely lightly crisp bready malts with lime flavor. Perfect for this heat. @Open Air Motomachi
