Hazy dark brown. Chocolatey, with dark fruit and hints of tartness. Tart, some deep fruit and minerally single estate chocolate flavours. But overall, I’m not sure the package comes together.

Bottle (330) from Liquid Solutions in Portland, OR. Dark brown color with a sumptious tan head. Aroma is like chocolately brown coffee. Hits the nose in an unusual way. Medium plus body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is grapey, musty, chocolate, coffee, and other stuff. Quite astringent. Not very vinous. Finishes quite chocolately. Not a great deal of heat, but reminds of liqueur. Extremely rich. Sort of like a quad in some aspects.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of yespr. Hazy orangey brown with a light brown head. Aroma of burned malt, also some ashes and dark chocolate. Medium body with sweetish lightly burned malt, fruit and vanilla with a lightly bitter finish. Appears more like a sweet Stout really. 290508

Average of 2 separate tastings, with some different results. Small, off-white head, over slightly hazy orange-amberish beer. One sample flowery nose, garden herbs, fast gone, leaving a slight spicy aroma; other one cookies, sweet dessert baking and impression of Maillard. Sample 1 soft sweetish-bitterish, with a fruity sourish lining; bitterish mainly due to (noble) hops; faintly spicy. Both toasted, soft-caramelly malts, no honey detectable. Palate drops fast away, certainly in sample 2; sample 1 more spritzy, mineral water quality. Light to medium bodied. Honeysweetness in both cases held in check, but the beer is rather dull, as there’s very little "in lieu".

Bottle from Decanter, Milan
The color is light amber, too cloudy, but with thin perlage, creamy head and nice lace. It has a good aroma of Belgian yeast in the front, followed by traces of sugar. It has a good body strength, smooth malt flavor, light residual sweetness, spicy (the character of the yeast); unfortunately there are also some vegetable traces from the fermentation or maturation process, getting more evident at the end. The final is reasonably bitter and shows some of the alcohol content. Unrefined.

Cream to mango-yellow head, fine and dense, dwindling over hazy red-foxy amber beer. Earthy, grainy, and "cassonade" (light brown sugar) aroma’s; little touch of alcohol. Taste again very earthy, leafy flavours, overlying sweeter malts flavour, but ending short-bitter. Complex palate, well-balanced. Spritzy texture, medium bodied, quite slick - grist slickness. Actually a very nice beer, pretty complex and well-balanced. It might seem classy, blue bottles, but I’d rather save a few Euro’s on those hefty 11, in exchange for a more rural bottle.
