Description
Rascals Brewing was founded in 2014 by Emma Devlin and Cathal O’Donoghue.
The pair were living and working in New Zealand and developed a taste and passion for the booming Kiwi craft beer industry. In the spirit of adventure, they decided to change careers entirely and set up their own craft brewery back home in Dublin. Sure, why not?

Can from Beer52. Clear gold with white head, modest retention. Aroma has the citric yuzu with some peppery and grassy hop. Taste of light toasted cereal with sweet and light tangy yuzu at which point the flavour drifts. There is a bitterness that runs through but it lacks a crispness. Occasional peppery notes which help. Quite average.

440ml can from Beer52 at the significantly lower rate of 4.6% ABV. Pours black with a a lovely looking consistent creamy head, really looks the part. Aroma of light roasted malts, then the big notes of chocolate, coconut and vanilla come in. These flavours all there in the taste, smooth lactose notes, quite rich, mild long bitter finish. Its quite a rich beer, despite it being sessionable strength, so more of a sipper but that means you can enjoy it for longer so win-win!

330ml can. Slightly cloudy gold/light amber, small foamy head, decent retention. Aroma of tropical fruit purees you get in those yogurt combos, pale malts, grapefruit. Taste is indeed like tropical fruit bubblegum, sweet, slight tartness, grassy, grapefruit. Finish is bittersweet and tangy. Light to medium body. Its fine but a bit average and superficial.

440ml can. Pours hazy orange-gold, small white head, decent looking retention. Aroma of strawberry, mango, passionfruit, slight earthiness in the hops. Taste is strawberry, vanilla, lactose, tropical hoppy notes, hint of vegetation, sweet malts. Slightly bitter and dry in the finish. Medium smooth body and carbonation. Not a bad balance between adjuncts and hops. Good IPA.
