Description
Rascals Brewing was founded in 2014 by Emma Devlin and Cathal O’Donoghue.
The pair were living and working in New Zealand and developed a taste and passion for the booming Kiwi craft beer industry. In the spirit of adventure, they decided to change careers entirely and set up their own craft brewery back home in Dublin. Sure, why not?

Draught at Bloom. Rusty brown with a medium head. Aroma is peppery hop. Flavor is sweet fruity, chalky, lightly bitter. Really similar to what the new German brewers are doing with IPA, only better. Superb beer.

Bottle from Drinkstore, Dublin [030115]
Very dark brown, ruby edges, thin beige head that dissipated quickly to a thin rim around glass
Aroma of fresh ginger, quite spicy, dab of dark chocolate, bit vegetal, simple nose where the ginger dominates
Taste of fairly spicy ginger, some mellow roast, some dark chocolate, not much roast, dark malts, getting that vegetal edge from the ginger (it is fresh), some bitter cocoa nibs, not complex though
Palate - soft carb, medium body, perhaps a bit thin for the abv, soft sweet palate. Finish a bit dry, more intense dark chocolate in finish, more bitter.
Overall - Not bad, quite pricey for a bottle. The ordinary Ginger Porter seems a bit more balanced imho

Draught, very small but stable head, hazy light orange colour, with yellow hues, aroma of wheat and toothpaste, flavour of almond, toothpaste and some fruit, quite strong fruity sourness that is a touch unrefined, more a weizen then a wit. Quite average and not too exciting.
