Description
King State is all about family. We’re a coffee roaster, beer brewer, and whatever else we want to be.
King State's main Tampa Heights cafe and restaurant is permanently closed. The iconic brick-and-mortar location served its final weekend of service in mid-October 2024. While the physical restaurant and taproom closed, the business itself did not completely shut down.

16 oz. can from The Bat Cave. Pours a hazy yellow-gold color with a white head and decent retention. Almost no lacing. Basic pale malt aroma. Strong bready malt flavor. More of a blonde ale flavor, but it fits the Helles profile. Medium body. Medium-light soft carbonation. Low bitterness.

16 oz. can from The Bat Cave. Pours a pitch black color with a very small, tight beige head with excellent retention. Looks like a nitro head, but no visible nitro action. Spotty lacing. Dark roasted malt and dark chocolate aroma. Very dark roasted malt flavor dominates with some coffee notes and only a little dark bitter chocolate notes in the finish. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Medium-light carbonation. Low bitterness. The 6.6% ABV is very well hidden. Good beer.

Draft pout at Half Barrel, Orland. Clean and clear golden appearance. Bready and cracker grain nose. Crisp initial flavor, with a smoother follow. Cracker, bready grains, with a bold note to round out. Thicker bodied pilsner. Grassy finish, with a gritty side. Long lingering grain. Unique pils. Enjoyed this.

Full pint @Laser Wolf. Clear, dark amber pour. Bittersweet oats & a little nutmeg on the nose. Subtle spice bitterness, delicate pumpkin puree, with a solid oat backbone. Toasty & mellow. Filtered, maybe. Very carbed. Crispy, if slightly tacky body. Drinks insanely well. Liked this a lot.
