12 oz can purchased as part of a holiday mix 6 pack at Sandhills Brewing in Mission, Kanas. The pour is an opaque brown black with a hint of ruby topped with a ¼ inch tan head that falls quick. The aroma is rich toffee malt, big richness, roast, mild char, pine and a hint of saltiness. The taste is pine, chalky toffee, roast, salty iodine and finishing super dry with the char and mineral. Tons of flavors, nice transition of flavors with it all blended and balanced. The palate is medium to heavier bodied, soft carbonation and the bone dry mineral and char finish. Excellent version of a Baltic Porter.

The palate is light bodied, soft active carbonation and the lingering wood and butter character. Interesting version.

The pour is a mostly clear golden yellow with a foamy one inch head that lasts for a bit then falls with nice lace. The aroma is bright, a super fresh tangerine and mandarin orange, along with a bit of earth, resin, pine and cracker malt. The taste is resin, dank, tangerine, bitter orange peel and clean cracker malt to the back. The palate is medium bodied with active natural carbonation and the bitter dankish finish. Nice Pale, super easy drinking.

12 oz can purchased as part of a holiday mix 6 pack at Sandhills Brewing in Mission, Kanas. The pour is a murky brown dark copper with a minimal off white head that falls almost immediately. The aroma is cane sugar, Belgian spiced yeast, a nuttiness and a general potpourri. The taste is very spiced, nutmeg, cinnamon, persimmons, nuttiness and then closes with big Belgian yeast esters and spices. The palate is medium to heavier bodied, with soft carbonation and the spice, yeast and nutty long lingering finish. Very much as advertised, I’d like to try a straight Dubbel from Sandhills, the base of this seemed nice.

375 ml bottle purchased at the brewery in Mission, Kansas to go. The pour is a slight haze golden yellow with a foamy one inch head that falls quickly. The aroma is lightly tart acidic, melon fruit, and some hay. The taste is bright sour lactic, tart acidity, nice bright oak character and the fruit behind that. I’m not familiar with pawpaw, it has a nice bright melon, softly sweet flavor that works well with the sour and oak. The palate is medium to light bodied with fine active carbonation and the tart sour finish.
