Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - very murky brown. Snow white head that is quite thin. Nose - a lovely sweet raspberry note. Not so much as a hint of barrel or booze on this. Taste - again raspberry is very dominant. Only a slight hint of any woodiness and no sign of the booze at all, really. However, there is a late toffee note that builds. Palate - creamy in texture, light to medium bodied, Overall - looks like a puddle but very tasty, as per the base beer.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - pale golden and very clear. Snow white head that rapidly falls away. Nose - lemon, light spirit note that could be Tequila but equally reminds me of Speyside whisky. Wood and sweet spice, probably vanilla. Taste - dry wood and sweet vanilla, followed in by a long, tangy, salty lemon note. Palate - medium bodied, tangy and salty through middle and finish. Overall - not sure about this at first but it grew on me.

Can from Appellation Wines. Appearance - golden and clear with a big fluffy white head. Nose - corn and sweet lemon. Taste - lemon, brown bread and corn again. Palate - light bodied, dry middle and finish. Decent texture. Overall - not getting the pilsner bitterness I'd expect but still enjoyable.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy deep reddish - brown with a small, frothy off-white head. The aroma has heady notes of sweetness, intoxicating sticky dark fruits, plum, prune dried cherry, figgy pudding, vanilla fudge, toffee crisp, rum & raisin, fruit cake and bread & butter pudding. The taste is slick, oily, unctuous, sweet dried dark fruits, nice figgy pudding vibes, plum, prune, date, rum & raisin, hint of cherry, dried cranberry, jammy, jam rolly poly, vanilla custard, Bakewell tart, oak, toffee, fudge, touch of spice, light tannin and touch of spicy alcohol with a drying, warming finish. Medium to fulsome body, fine carbonation and slick mouth feel. Quite some depth to it. My description makes it sound like it would be too sweet, but it's not.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours clear yellow - blonde with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, fresh, melon, greengage, lemon - lime, cornbread muffins and tacos. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, salty cracker, pithy, zesty, lemon - lime, melon, ligh pear, savoury, touch of corn, tortilla and spice with a drying finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Works well. Probably the best of the recent lot of Mexican Lager.
