Bottled at RBESG 2006. A pitch black beer with a thick brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of chocolate as well as a light touch of dust. The flavor is sweet malty with lots of chocolate in the beginning at first as dark milk chocolate, but turning into bitter dessert chocolate, leading to a very dry and bitter finish.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 2 June 2007) Dark amber colour with short, foamy head. Fruity nose with loads of hops, grapefruit, pine needles and hints of dried fruit. Fruity, hoppy taste with dried fruit (apricots), grapefruit and orange peel. Medium to full body, rahter sweet. Powerfull stuff, and another brilliant (and not so modest) brew from Närke.

CBF07 sample poured by omhper from a bottle given by the brewer himself at the RB table. I’m extremely thankful for having had a chance to taste this. I had to go outside into the sunshine to enjoy this. By incident (well...) this was my tasting number 200 at CBF07. I had 7 more tastings after this, but it took me an hour to start sampling again. This beer will however conclude my RB postings from the CBF07. Ah well the beer :) : From 25 cL bottle. Pours completely black with thick brown head, very creamy. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and slight tobacco. A vague dried fruity note too. Flavour is first chocolate, then toffee sweet and this becomes a strong liqourice dominans. A soft bitterness lingering into the finish. Clear presence of alcohol, but only reasonable. It does give the beer an initial edge. Very thick, very fullbodied.10-5-9-5-18

(Draught at The Rover, Göteborg) A bit shady golden color, fluffy lasting white head. Initially a bit malty grainy scent, turns more into bitter hops after a while. Fruity and a bit malty taste. Fresh and very drinkable in the summer heat. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness, Some fruity apricot aftertaste.

First rating, April 5, 2007(Draught at The Rover, Göteborg) Clear copper color, thick cream colored head. Fresh peaty smoky scent. Smoky and hoppy taste in a strange mix that cancel each other out. Medium mouthfeel and bitterness. Though I love the smoky scent the taste could use less hops and more smoke.9/4/5/3/12=3.3Second rating, April 13, 2007(Draught at The Rover, Göteborg) Shady brown color, fluffy tan head. Smoke and sweet malt with some fruits scent. Some smoke but mostly sweet and fruity taste, rather clean. Medium mouthfeel. Medium high bitterness. A touch of smoke in the aftertaste.7/3/6/3/13=3.2

(Draught at Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 4 Apr 2007) Amber colour with firm beige head. Nose is ... oh dear... this is seriously smokey stuff. Malty, smokey and tarry, leading my thoughts more in the direction of Laphroaig and Ardbeg on the south banks of Islay than in the direction of Bamberg. Smokey, malty, tarry taste, rather dry. Luckily, the rather light body and low abv makes it rather drinkable. Complex it is not, neither balanced. As usual, no half measures from Närke, which always makes their beers interesting. And interesting it is, tasty as well, but one a day is probably enough.
