Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a sniffer.
The appearance had a dark brown close to black color with a one finger white to off white foamy head that dissipated within about less than a minute. Light lacing pervaded all about.
The smell was extremely sweet and chocolate/possibly even a milky like sweet sort of way. There’s even a light roasty coffee really underneath.
The taste was chocolate sweet but still with a nice overall roastiness of the meal all about.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium in body with a decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was fairly subdued and the beer came across fairly smooth and creamy.
Overall, what a really nice sweet stout well worthy of having again. There wasn’t any bourbon flavoring found in the bottle but this was good for the most part.

Poured from a 16 oz can. Aroma has a nice coffee forward character. Light roast notes with some fruitiness and nuttiness from the coffee. Medium light chocolate notes. Light fruit esters. Pours black with a moderately thick, light mocha head that recedes quickly to the edges where it lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a nice light sweetness with a solid amount of chocolate and light roast notes. Moderately strong coffee character contributes nice complexity. Medium light bitterness. Some lingering roast character with hints of astringency. Light fruit esters. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly creamy with medium carbonation. Medium low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty good beer with a nice aroma and flavor upfront. The finish is a bit bitter and astringent and reminds me of old coffee grinds, but thankfully its not overpowering. Good but not amazing. Just tried this again and its not nearly as astringent and much less bitter. This has really helped the beer. My new rating has been changed from a 3.4 to a 3.8 to reflect that.
