22 oz. bottle. Dark mahogany color with thin white head, light retention. Aroma is pure smoked meat and light earth dirt. Flavor is smoked meat, salty brine, peat with the peat lingering in the finish. Medium malt base. If you like layers of smoke, you will enjoy this brew. Interesting and different for sure. Pairs well with aged cheddar cheese and cured meats.

Sample at Kurtkeller 015: Coffee-tastic 02 on 07/05/2014. Brownish-black color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Stringy lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and malt. Light to medium body with a roasty character of coffee and malt, with touches of chocolate. The finish is dry with a cocoa and espresso aftertaste. Above average overall.

This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown to black colored body with a fairly nice lookin’ one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute.
The aroma had a nice roasty to somewhat bitter smelling coffee/somewhat light chocolatey-goodness just rolling all around my nose.
The taste took those smells and just basically really shook them all about to blend to taste and really shake things up a bit.
On the palate, this one sat a light to medium and showed a fairly decent sessionability to hold itself up against other stouts.
Overall, I say this was not a bad American Stout, seek and you shall find a much worthy stout to enhance your beer tasting experience.

From a 12 oz bottle at the Beer Head BBQ in Falls Church VA. Pours a hazy pale gold with an off white head. Light citrus nose. Lavender aroma. Flavor of bubble bath. Meh.

I bought a bomber at the brewery and was disappointed. Partially my fault: I thought I was buying a cold bottle and didn’t realize it was warm until after I opened. Also, I noticed it was more than 6 months old. A 6-month old IPA sold at the brewery? Anyway, it was underwhelming even after I chilled it. Aroma and tastes described in other reviews were only barely there. Had a bready, bitter finish.

Can, brought back by my buddy Steve – thanks! Sunday morning I opened the can, sniffed it a bit and decided no glass needed… Great espresso nose is full of freshly ground roast. The coffee and cocoa flavors are spot on, good amount of roast too. I really like this; I think it would hold its ground with any of the top-tier coffee beers. Think morning tailgate when the temperatures drop and this is in your hands and it equals happiness.

Deep dark copper and orange coloured body with a cloudy, very opaque look and a thick, three centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of earthy and floral hops, some pungent malt notes, a little bit of yeast and a solid fruit profile. Medium-bodied; Chewy malty flavour at first with earth and nuts noticeable, but a large and rather herbal hop taste rounds out the flavour. Aftertaste shows a subtle blend of sweetness from fruits and a drying hop character. Overall, a nice IPA that shows more of a non-traditional flair with more malt and sweetness than most others and especially the look - much more cloudy than most! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Merchant’s in Dearborn, Michigan on 02-August-2013 for US$5.99 sampled at home in Washington on 15-March-2014.
