Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, char, toast, smoke, toffee, dark bread, light vanilla, light floral, and roasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, char, coffee, smoke, toast, toffee, dark bread, light vanilla, and roasted earthiness. Sizable roasted/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, char, coffee, smoke, toast, dark bread, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Nice balance and complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; with a solid malt/bitterness balance and minimal cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very creamy, slick, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is a pretty good imperial stout. Good complexity of dark/roasted malt flavors; but very a very slow sipper due to intense roasted/charred malt/bitterness. A fairly enjoyable offering, best enjoyed very slowly.

Aromas of big toffee, caramel, molasses, toast, biscuit, nuttiness, brown sugar, raisin, prune, light chocolate, light roast, floral, and toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good complexity of big dark/toasted malt aromas; with good strength. Taste of toffee, caramel, toast, biscuit, molasses, nuttiness, brown sugar, raisin, floral, light pine, chocolate, light roast, and toasted earthiness. Minimal earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, molasses, brown sugar, biscuit, nuttiness, light pine, floral, chocolate, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and complexity of dark/toasted malt flavors; with a decent amount of earthy hop balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice strong ale. Nice balance and complexity of big dark/toasted malt flavors with light hop balance; and very smooth to sip on. I would definitely put this under the old ale style rather than wheatwine; but other than that, it was nicely enjoyable.

Bottle shared by Ramy at Paul’s. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Nose and taste of ultra fresh coffee bean, chocolate, fresh coffee and grain. Taste is more grainy/stale coffee than the nose. Falls a little flat. Lighter medium body.

Pours lightly hazy and cloudy pale orange amber color with a nice 2-3 finger dense and fluffy off white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass; with some moderate streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of orange zest, lemon zest, grapefruit, orange rind, tangerine, floral, pine, grass, light caramel, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of hop notes with a light-moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of orange zest, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange rind, tangerine, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, light honey, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, citrus zest, pine, floral, light caramel, honey, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of citrus/pine hop flavors; with a fair amount of malt balance and minimal cloying bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very cirsp and sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA! All around nice balance and complexity of citrus/pine hop notes with a fair amount of malt balance; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Hazy straw body, medium off-white head. Light vegetal, grassy, asparagus nose. Herbal, toasty body dominated by asparagus, oddly interesting and quaffable, but not for everybody.
