Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of malt, fruitiness, and barrel presence; with solid strength. Smells moderately like an oak aged sour here, but it’s not offensive. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, cherry, apple, oak, clove, floral, light bourbon, grass, pepper, and floral earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, light fruits, clove, oak, pepper, light whiskey, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance and complexity of malt and fruitiness; with moderate barrel presence and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy and smooth mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with no warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a nice and unique amber ale. Bomber pour to pint glass. This was a good basic porter with a nice chili kick . . . just enough to make it interesting, not a burn that messes up the beer flavor. I don’t know that I would have enjoyed it as much if I drank it without an appropriate food. I had it with my wife’s homemade chicken chili. What a meal!

Taste of caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, apple, floral, grass, light citrus, and light pine. Light bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, brown bread, brown sugar, apple, floral, grass, light citrus, and light pine on the finish for a bit. Good balance and complexity of malt flavors; with a fair amount of hop balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a solid amber ale. Good malt flavor complexity and robustness; and very smooth to drink. An enjoyable offering.

Draft. Typical IPA blend of bitter hops, but differs from the standard IPA with a pleasant fruitiness that is not too citrusy.

Pours black with a fast, dark tan head. Chocolate, pepper aroma....wood smoke. Taste is malt, chocolate, lightly bitter coffee with a slight pepper heat. Pretty mild.

Poured dark to black , 1 finger head. Nose is great! fresh roasted and brewed coffee hint of toffee.Interesting. weak taste, nice coffee and creaminess but falls short in the middle and finish.

Bottle. Chocolate and smoky pepper aroma. Near black with a large tan head. Roasty malt, charred pepper, light warm capsaicin spice flavor with a light roasty bitter finish. Body on the lighter side of medium. One of the few pepper beers I’ve had lately that had what I could call any real warmth.
