Brown with an off-white and creamy head. Toffee and chili aroma, but also mineral earthy, like gravel. Taste is mildly sweet up front. Dry and a touch bitter at the back. Metallic notes. The lingering chili is done subtly. Medium-bodied, moderate carbonation. A few flaws but not unpleasant.

12 oz. can at La Cueva in Taos. Pours a clear, bronze color, with a small, beige head. The nose is pine sap, orange peel, and prickly pear. Sweet and sugary, with a fair bitterness. Pretty tasty.

12 oz. can. Sweet corn, dust, some ambiguous floral hops, and soda crackers. Sweet and sugary, with a mellow, unobtrusive bitterness. Light and crisp. Pretty well balanced, simple, and clean.

Few styles have the range with me from quite good to rather poor as barley wines. I found a tall boy of Chicken Killer at the Total Wine n Santa Fe and, yes, I know the story. The Cowtown snifter receives the pour for me to see a cola-tea colored liquid with a slight but steady head of eggshell foam. I smell yellow fruit, dark fruit, alfalfa and bread. The taste is all right, I have no real complaint. Red plums, raisins, wheat bread, red licorice a vinous touch and hay. Decent.

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2019 - London. Pours mostly clear orange-gold with a frothy, white topping. Tasty, lightly chalky, with notes of ripening citrus fruits, tangerine, pale bread. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; alright condition. Finishes with further ripe citrus character. Not bad overall.
