Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.

We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Bottle. Clear Amber with nice sized light beige head. Aroma hops on the nose with lots of flowers, some pine and light like. Lots of caramel, spices, light weird metallic taste, unfermented wort, light citrus peel and some resin. Medium bodied. Seems like something went wrong here, seems a bit oxidized or not fermented well. Meh. 3.0 &&& Update: new bottle. Same as above but without the unfermented wort notes, still slightly metallic though. Bit better but Kaapse have way better beers.

Bottle 330ml (AIH40)
Hazy orange color, steady medium-sized white head. Clove spicey and sweetish aroma. Light to medium bodied. A bit restless clove porridge with some bitterness in the aftertaste. XMas beer. Not refreshing as a Saison.

Bottled@AIH40 (from biernavigator). Orangeish golden colour, mediumsized white foamy/fluffy head. Aroma is spices, farmyard, some mild floral and citrusy notes. Flavour was slightly earthy and spicy with a bunch of citrus to it. Rather dry palate. So-so, it’s got it’s niced things, but ends up a bit on the harsher side.

Sample from 33 cl .bottle. Pitch black with a thin, lightly tanned head. Roasted aroma with soy sauce, fruits, dark malts, chocolate, caramel and a boozy wooden note. Taste is light bitter. Medium body with a creamy texture and a soft carbonation. Finishes dry and roasted with liquorice and a vinous note. Nice barrel ageing where the alcohol just shows.
