Description
Founder Tsjomme Zijlstra's idea to start his own brewery came to him after his time in England. He started to brew his own beer at home and decided in 2014 that he wanted go bigger. He met Menno and John, owners of Brouwerij de Molen in Bodegraven, and told them his story. They taught him how to brew with one of their old brewing installations. Kaapse Brouwers was born.
We are Kaapse Brouwers. We are the brewers who introduced craft beer to Rotterdam, and Rotterdam to the world. With our Kaapse recipes we brew non-conformist beers. We choose for bold recipes and love to experiment with different flavors to create contemporary craft beers.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Colin. Pours deep brown with a creamy, tan head. Good beer, nicely rounded, not too complex but has some nice toasted bread and dry cocoa character. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Burnt earth on the finish with rindy grapefruit and more dry chocolate. Very drinkable. Good one.

Bottle thanks to Black IPA slayer, Colin. It pours darkest brown with a thick tan head. The nose is roasty, earth, pine, orange peel, soap, tangelo, candy and some florals. The taste is crisp, bitter, earthy, orange peel, sherbet, dirt, pine, roasted malt and toast with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Interesting and quaffable. Very nice.

330ml bottle [in the meanwhile celebrating van Persie’s equalizer and Robben’s goal giving the Netherlands the lead - yessss! - Man! Can’t drink that fast, Holland scores again!]. Hazy dark golden to amber colour with average to huge, firm, foamy, fairly lasting, barely white head. Resinous hoppy aroma with very intense and explicit notes of spruce, fruity hints of pineapple, a touch of mandarine, watery mango, overall woody character. Taste is fruity hoppy, slightly dry, slightly resinous, piney, hints of spruce, pineapple, watery mango. Very nice!
