Black Storm started in late 2017. The beers were initially contract brewed at Hadrian Border Brewery. In Spring 2019 the former site of Blackhill Brewery was purchased located at Unit 14 Stella Gill Industrial Estate, Pelton Fell and started brewing at it. Relocated in early 2022 to their current site. During Spring 2023 new management took over the brewey and started activities as Black Storm Beers. Same beers, same brewers, NEW management

Can from lowcostbeer, BBE Jul-22, consumed Mar-22. Pours a clear orange-gold with moderatre sized white head, plenty of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, malts, orange peel, light floral notes. Taste of white bread, grapefruit, zest, candied fruit, modest dry-bitterness in the finish. Light to medium bodied, fairly slick. Fairly simple but quite tasty.

Can from lowcostbeer, canned Sep-21, BBE Sep-22, consumed Mar-22. Only my third Irish Red Ale style. Pours a light hazy reddish-brown with big off-white head. Aroma of caramel, brown bread, apple, hay. Taste of brown bread, tangy berries, yeast, wood. Slick mouthfeeland soft carbonation. Could do with a bit more malt depth through the flavour but quite nice.

Can from lowcostbeer, canned Sep-21, BBE Sep-22, consumed Mar-22. Light hazy gold with small white head. Quite an intense pot pourri aroma with hints of lime and spice; not sure I like it. Taste has been infused with something other than hops but I cant quite put my finger on it. Very soapy and artificial although a softer fruity finish. This combined with a refreshing body and carbonation saves it from being a disaster. Not good as a beer but understand originally was brewed for a good cause.

Can from lowcostbeer, canned Jul-21, BBE Mar-22, consumed Mar-22. Only my 4th Brut IPA to date. Pours a cloudy gold with big white fluffy head. Aroma is sweet and tangy with notes of lemon, gooseberry, grape, grains. Taste starts sweet, grape with a big squeeze of bitter lemon, finish is mellow fruity, somewhat grainy. Light to medium bodied, soft mouthfeel, has a refreshing quality. Quite good.

Can from lowcostbeer, no dates showing but all the other Black Storm offerings have been in date. Cloudy yellow-gold with moderate sized white head. Aroma is a little subtle but has a citrus, stone fruit, dank piss hops. Taste is very pine noted with some softer citrus juice notes underneath, dry pine needle finish. Medium bodied, nice soft mouthfeel. Its ok.

Can from lowcostbeer, no BBE date but as a dark beer it should be ok. Dark brown with fizzy beige head which dissipated quickly; looks a bit like cola. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, brown toast, hint of caramel, chilli. Taste is quite sweet with notes of roasted malt and chocolate, some smoke plus a moderate chilli heat which hits the throat and tip of the tongue. Medium bodied, modest soda like carbonation. Without the chilli the stout would be pleasant if a little bland. Chilli elevates it really well. Possibly the best chilli flavoured beer I have had but its looks crap so that's effected the score here.

440ml can from Brookes, Richmond. Clear yellowy golden colour, foamy white head and aroma of malt, straw, grass, hops. Taste is sweet, malty, bread, grain, with straw, hay and grassy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying grassy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at Egham Beer Fest Summer 24. Aroma is fruity with a resinous edge. Murky opaque gold - pulped fruit in appearance. Thin frothy bubbly white head attempts to provide full coverage but fails to do so. Medium-heavy bitter. Resinous. Fruity streak. Underlying malts. Medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. OK. Doesn't really hit the target.
