Description
Black Storm, where passion and artistry meet to create unforgettable craft beer experiences. Our journey kicked off with late-night brewing sessions and hard work to meet our dream of delivering the finest, premium craft beers that will captivate your taste buds and elevate your beer-drinking experience, all crafted and brewed in the North east of England.

Black Storm started in late 2017. The beers were initially contract brewed at Hadrian Border Brewery. In Spring 2019 the former site of Blackhill Brewery was purchased located at Unit 14 Stella Gill Industrial Estate, Pelton Fell and started brewing at it. Relocated in early 2022 to their current site. During Spring 2023 new management took over the brewey and started activities as Black Storm Beers. Same beers, same brewers, NEW management

Can from lowcostbeer.com, 1 month in date. Hazy orange-gold with nice looking small white head. Aroma of sour fruit, citrus zest and the Vienna malt comes through; not sure about this. Needn't have worried its fairly tasty. Tartness is there with lemon and tropical notes, a touch malty and dry in the finish. There is a possibility there was a slight bacterial infection in the mix as I recall similar sour characteristics in another beer that was virtually undrinkable. In this case its far more muted and arguably character inducing. However apart from the sourness, fruity element and interesting malt there is a lack of hop complexity you would expect in a modern IPA. A bit disappointing, a below average IPA but an ok beer.

440ml can. Clear light amber with small off-white head. Grapefruit and malt aroma with lighter notes of citrus peel, toffee, dust. Taste is bitter, reasonable fruitiness with a citrus tangy edge, quite malt driven. Slightly above light bodied but has a nice resinous slickness by the end. Its decent enough.

Can from lowcostbeer, canned Sep-21, BBE Sep-22, consumed Mar-22. Dark brown pour with moderate sized beige head. Blackcurrant on the nose with roasted malts, liquorice, jam, nuts. Taste is nice a fruity with the blackcurrant, slightly jammy, liquorice, roast, tasty cough sweet feel to it. Modest bitterness in the finish. Near medium bodied, carbonation moves flavour well around palate. Tasty fruit stout.

Can from lowcostbeer, canned Sep-21, BBE Sep-22, consumed Mar-22. Light hazy gold with small white head. Quite an intense pot pourri aroma with hints of lime and spice; not sure I like it. Taste has been infused with something other than hops but I cant quite put my finger on it. Very soapy and artificial although a softer fruity finish. This combined with a refreshing body and carbonation saves it from being a disaster. Not good as a beer but understand originally was brewed for a good cause.
