Poured up on tap at the brewpub where it exhibits a clear bubbly gold colored body that supports a bright white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. The mild aroma sweet bread, fruity esters, no hop aroma. The taste delivers prickly carbonation sweet fruity esters punctuated by vague modest hop bitterness. In the background is a grounding sweet breadiness that tries to fight off the fruity esters. Not such a good Kölsch as it's muddled and ragged by being too sweet fruity ester forward causing a lack of crispness.

On tap at South O, pours jet black with a small beige head. Aroma has a strange, cocktail-like booziness to it that eclipses any of the adjuncts described here—not getting the hazelnut, cocoa, etc. Flavour has plenty of minty-like, old fashioned-like notes—candied orange?—with the advertised adjuncts rather subdued. Not too sweet but just a strange concoction. It works but tastes so different than advertised. Interesting.

On tap at South O, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma is full of cake batter, vanilla, cocoa, and bourbon barrels. Flavour is extremely sweet, with lots of dark sugars, huge cake batter, vanilla, and massive bourbon. Too much cake batter, honestly. There’s a killer bourbon character here and great malts, but it’s a bit too sweet and gimmicky. Good.

On tap at South O, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of intense bourbon barrels, followed by vanillin, oak, and sticky dark sugars. Flavour is dominated by huge bourbon barrels, followed by vanilla, sticky sugars, and butterscotch. Wonderful bourbon barrel expression. Tends toward the brutal side, but there’s so much depth that it doesn’t matter. Lovely.

On tap at South O, pours a hazy bright yellow with a small white head. Aroma is heavily dank, with intense pot-like hops, citrus, and more pot. Flavour is full of dank, oily, resinous hops that wallop the palate, with just enough malt to back. Very oily, almost syrupy palate—unusual for a WCIPA. It’s good but not calibrated the way I like in the style.

On tap at South O, pours a clear pale yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma has some piney hops, biscuity malt, and some oiliness. Flavour is lightly oily, with some pine, oily resins, and biscuity malt. Oily and a bit harsh but well-made.

On tap at South O, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has dank hops, some like, and doughy malt. Flavour is full of oily resins, pine, and melon. Maybe not the most dialed in hop expression or balance but it’s well-made.
