Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

A hazy yellow beer with a fast disappearing white head. Both the aroma and flavor are sweet with notes of cactus and lemon. I really though this would taste bad - but it is actually decent.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a slightly hazy pale golden with a very small head. Aroma of....alcohol and citrus. Medium-bodied, sweet and pop-like. No bitterness and no real beer character at all. 240706

Cream-coloured head, fast gone; foxy-red to orange, clear beer, quite cognac like. Lightly alcoholic, very biscuity nose, cake & light caramel. Brandy cake. Bitterish-sweet alcoholic taste, still some brandy notes but with a tannine-like, woody bitterish lining. Little vanilla flavour. Creamy MF, better bodied than most strong lagers. Aftertaste keeps the bitter lining, becoming walnutpeel-like. "European Strong Lager" is often a nicer description for malt liquors from the old continent. This, however, is better than most examples. Tad harsh, but deserving for this wine country. Big thanks scaenepe!

Pour is a bright yellow with a white head. Aroma is a thin bit of malt. Flavor has a apple cider bitterness to it that does give it a distinct taste. Probably an above average pale lager.

Bottle. Only the slight hint of sour malt and to detect that, I almost had to stick my nose into the beer. Pale amber color with little head. Extremely light flavor - slight hints of malt. The Spanish equivalent of light beer and even Miller Lite has more flavor.

Dark amber color with a nice nose of apricot and oranges. Rich syrupy body that is surprisingly light, oranges with a rich finish. Not bad.

Described to me as a pilsner, and it was good enough to fool me. On the high end for the category, the beer is yellow, and has some hop bitterness. Now I finally have the elusive Spain rating.

Pale yellow color, hazy. Lemonade aroma. The taste as well is like a shandy, quite sweet and citrusy. Gets a bit drier and more bitter at the end. If you like shandy, go for it; if you look for beer, search elsewhere.

Pale blond color, poor head. Simple; dry taste, strong bitterness. Refreshing, but they still have to convince me that it’s a Pale Ale

The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel. The color is black and it has a fine beige head. The flavor is of raisins and roasted malt. It has a good bitter end. The palate is somewhat thin. A fine beer - but a little thin. Thanks to Mads Langtveds dad who flew this one in exclusivly for our tasting.
