Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

clear yellow, smooth white head. sweet, faint caramelly, faint sweet corn aroma, actually a nice strong european lager aroma for a change. I didn’t know and didn’t suspect a wheat ale, but Gitte did notice some wheat in it. flavor is bitter, malts, hop balance. dry and bitter beer, starts bitter and ends a little sweeter, which is kinda’ unusual. tastes good.

Hazy blond color. Very light aroma of malt and hops. The mouthfeel is sweeter than expected, therefore cheaper than the aroma; hay flavor too, and quite low bitterness. Not too bad.

Bottled. A golden beer with a lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, and some metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, metal, straw, and a bit of hay, leading to a dry metallic finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
