Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

25 cl bottle, thanks to rlgk!BB 24.02.2012, sampled on April 1, 2011Label marked 4.5% ABVClear pale yellow coor, small white head. Faint, sweet, vegetable, rotten hay scent. Sweet, sugary taste, not really bad but really boring. Moussy mouthfeel, very low bitterness.Where the beer isn’t bad (which it is for smell and looks) it’s very boring (such as in taste), only good thing I can say about it is I like when beer comes in smaller bottles.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. It looks quite nice in the glass, a small, white head sits on top of a clear, golden body. The aroma on the other hand, that’s quite odd. Can’t really put my finger on it, it’s fruity and grainy, but there’s also something else going on. The flavor is much the same, but slightly better. Thin on the palate. Not bad, at least considering its ABV. 110320
