Description
Founded in 1900, Cervezas Ambar is an independent Spanish brewery that maintains the spirit of a constantly evolving family enterprise. With 18 beer varieties, it has more specialities than any other brand. It continues to produce beer at the same brewery where it began operations in the early part of the last century, located in the historic San José neighbourhood. There they maintain the craft processes of the 20th century, with their own malting facility and the only open vat fermentation room still in use anywhere in Spain.

Can from El Corte Ingles, Bilbao, Basque Country, Northern Spain, 08.07.11 consumed at home 14.07.11 Pours clear amber with white rim of bubbles. Touch metallic and tinny but some bitterness and a tinny caramel flavour, some dryness, alcohol also showing. It’s not that bad, however not overly keen on the slightly industrial aftertaste. Bottle from El Corte Ingles, Bilbao. Had this at Mundaka campsite, Basque Country, Northern Spain sat outside Frank (camper) 06.07.11 Pours black with next to no head. Nice dark malt and muscovado sugars, touch sweet maybe but pleasant. Touch of black treacle, served a bit too cold by me but getting better as it warms. Good stuff. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5

Bottle in a bar in the old part of town in Bilbao, Basque Country, Northern Spain 06.07.11. Pours warm gold though a touch lighter in colour than the Amber Especial with a filmy white head. Sweet and malty but with a little bit more bitterness than the Especial, its an ok lager. . A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Dark brown color, small beige head. Licorice, Worchester sauce in the nose. Medium-bodied. Dark malts, grassy hoppyness, caramel, licorice, soya sauce in the flavor. A bit like drinking "alcoholic malta" :)
