At Malt Worm's tasting, Prague Beer Fest 2025. Clearish golden body, white head. Cooked apples and pears in the dusty aroma. Lean, dry, dusty, phenolic apple notes, sweet and sour, white grapes, hoooh...

Tap at Malt Worm. Lots of jamy strawberry and raspberry fruitiness, defining the character, little else here. Med-light sourness, light sweetness, low bitterness. Simple, unbeery, good though, even if not great.

Tap at Černokostelecký pivovar for the Černokostelecký žejdlík. A fantastic idea - to recreate a beer like ones that could have been brewed in 1926, using old barley varieties, hop clones, yeast and double decoction, avoiding the brett insinuations some others made. A lot of care was put into the project and I have a lot of respect for Lukáš and others involved who did it... but how is it in practice? Well... Hazy golden body, lasting off-white head. Buttery, very buttery aroma, bordering extremes, some white bread crust, somewhat herbal-hoppy, but that's an afterthought. The taste is thankfully slightly less buttery, at least when cold, and the hoppy notes are nicely herbal at the start. The maltiness is slightly... syrupy for lack of a better term, there's a touch reminding me of a much lighter version of a cough syrup I had as a kid, but just saying cough syrup would be very harsh, of course. The taste then ends with a growing herbal bitterness (maybe less historical?). The overall balance is unusual, with the maltiness getting trampled in the fight between the butter and the bitterness, that makes the beer, as it warms, harder and harder to drink. Couldn't finish a big one in the end. With less diacetyl, I'd give it another shot, but it was sadly overdone... Frustrating, wanted to love it!

Tap at Malt Worm. Rather full body, lots of caramel, full blown old school ČIPA. High bitterness, medium sweetness. Lots of caramel, med-light diacetyl and moderate piney resiny and zesty citrusy hops character. Average.

Tap at Trilobit. Murky full yellow body, off-white head. Herbal aroma, bit sulfury. Dry taste, floral, vaguely minerally, lightly bready, yeasty... not really soft, but interesting!

Tap at Malt Worm. Med-full body, almost no carbonation, no bubbles, still even visually. Medium sweetness, light sourness. Feels like detská výživa, not beery at all. Just mango and nothing else. Not bad, but not a beer.
