Can pour (dated 11/16/18). Appearance is opaque black with no sparkle, finger-plus foamy dark brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malt, milder dark fruit. Taste is strong roasted malt, milder dark fruit as aroma, with toffee and a hint of anise. Mouthfeel is full bodied with thick, meaty texture, soft-to-average carbonation and bittersweet finish as taste. Overall, a thick, flavorful stout good for this time of year. Not tremendously complex but some decent nuances in the flavor.

Little malty at the start, though mellows out.

Can pour into nonic pint glass from the brewery. Appearance is opaque dark yellow-light brown with tons of effervescent sparkle (like alka selzer) along some edge of the glass with none elsewhere, finger-width, white, rocky foam head with excellent retention and attractive, soapy lacing. Aroma is strong tropical fruit and pineapple with more moderate apple and earthy, straw contribution. Taste is strong sweet tropical fruit with tangerine, milder backbone of bread. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, not a juice bomb but strong, pleasant sweet fruit flavor with great aroma and nice look. One of my favorite Relics.

Can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks Tom. Canned 8/21/19. Aroma shows soft straw, white grape, tropical fruit. Flavor has some nice juicy fruit, straw, notes and white grape. ABV is hidden. This brew and Rain Prayer are the best I have sampled from this brewery.

Can in a trade with tfontana. Thanks Tom. Canned in late August. Aroma is candied orange and pine. Flavors are milder citrus, slight floral, and ends on a light pine bitterness. Displays a very slight juicy character. I am talking slight... overall, mostly average.

Can pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is virtually opaque orange-light brown with trace sparkle at the edges of the glass two-finger width foamy off-white head with decent retention and nice sudsy lacing. Aroma is lemony citrus with bitter pineapple and some alcohol astringency (fades as it warms). Taste is as aroma with a late fruity-bubblegum and green apple. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with thick frothy texture soft carbonation and biscuity malt finish with lingering bitterness. Overall perhaps not at its best due to age (born 7/7/19) but still decent.

Can pour into nonic pint glass. Appearance is deeply cloudy (almost opaque) orange--like tangerine juice--with tons of sparkle, finger-width foamy off-white head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong pine, citrus and candied fruit. Taste is strong fruit, pine and milder citrus. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with smooth thin frothy texture, soft carbonation and sweet finish as taste. Overall, a bit thin in the mouthfeel for the style but strong aroma from more than a foot away. Flavor is strong but somewhat nondescript.

355ml can, thanks Olly for bringing this back from Connecticut. Pours a milky opaque orange, thin sparse bubbles nestled atop. Aroma has light lactose, light peachy juice. Taste is smooth, with soft smoothie-like exotics, not too full-on, subtle lactose presence, has a fair old juiciness to it, nicely rounded. Very enjoyable.
