(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber coloured with a fluffy and quite stable beige foam with lace. Slightly sweet toastmalty aroma with caramel and papery notes; only shy hints of hops and almost no fruitiness (traces of honey). Bitter flavour, light to medium body, crispy carbonated mouthfeel. Quite aromatic dry toastmalty initial taste with caramel, but rather slim and short, moderately bitter and slightly papery finish. Where are the hops used for the great Fiege Pils ? I´m pretty disappointed, although it is still drinkable, but it lacks obviously noble hops and fruit-character.

Golden, plentifull carbonation, big foamy white head. Strawlike malt aromanotes overlaid with herbal hops. Slightly nutty malt base, straw, faint herbal finish. On the lighter side bodywise, a bit fizzy. Needs more volume in my oppinion.

Pale golden, light greenish tint, huge fluffy white head. Fat grainy, aromatic and herbal aroma. Grainy, slightly hayish malt base balanced with dry herbal and grassy hops. Light body, sparkly mouthfeel. Very dry herbal exit with staying power. Good one!

Fresh, slightly singed bittering hop aroma. Almost completely black, nice creamy and lacing tan head. Hits first with a burned roasted cofee, balanced by herbal (juniper) notes and green hops. Relatively light body. Roasted cofee and grassy aftertaste. Pretty much exactly like a Schwarzbier should be.

Swing-top bottle: Pale golden coloured, fluffy white, stable head, sticking to the glass; (pale)malty, faint grassy bitter nose; moderate to strong bitter bitter flavour, slightly sweetish-malty, too, a bit thinnish, but not watery at all; soft, crisp mouthfeel; bitter, almost aromatic, lingering finish. Chapeau, the bright Fiege brewers have almost managed the squaring of the circle: a tasty, not bland or watery low-alcohol lager.......!

Swing-top bottle: clear, pale golden coloured, thin, stable white head, sticking to the glass; strong citrusy nose with a very faint bitter tinge; sweetish citrusy flavour, a bit sourish; sweet-sour fruity finish with a tinge of bitterness coming quite late. Not really bad, not too sweet, but refreshing........

Bottle: Dark amber coloured, thin, quickly diminishing off-white foam; faint sweet-malty, distictive fruity (citrus, exotic fruit) aroma; rather sweet fruity flavour (citrus plus coffee); sweet - surprise - finish with an illusion of a faint bitterness. Nearly no "beery" qualities detectable, nearly a pure sweet lemonade for young trendy people...............

Malzig riecht es ja schon, obwohl ein aufdringlich süßer Geruch das Ganze übertönt. Süffig isses und auch malzig, wobei es doch etwas wässrig ausfällt. Der Nachgeschmack allerdings lässt mich stutzen - was hat denn Sojaöl in Bier zu suchen? Der Nachgeschmack ist misslungen, der Rest des Bieres hätte auch besser sein können. Test vom 3.10.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,9,10,3,8,7 - 7,70

Swing-top bottle: Very dark coloured, almost black, huge, rocky brownish head; moderate malty nose (traces of roasted malts, caramel, molasses); quite sweet beginning, moderate sweet flavour, ending a bit dryer, with some light, but distinctive bitterness; the sweet, malty taste dominates from the beginning to the end; a bit sticky, not really great....

From the tap: Quite pale with a firm, long lasting white head; stupendous aromatic clear hoppy nose - like walking in a hop-garden in late summer; light to medium body; the initial short sweet maltiness swings to a big explosion of hoppiness before a big dry, hoppy, long and longer lasting finish. Lacks a bit a fuller body, otherwise, all You Bitburgers and Warsteiners: this is an almost perfect Pils in the north-german style ! Re-rated 8/7/06: Draught, served in a stein: Superb aroma: fresh sweet hops with a lot of resin; strong bitter flavour, but a very smootrh mouthfeel as well. An extraordinary german Pilsener !
