Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

Draft pour pint at The Collective. A clean and clear, shiny copper golden pour. Attractive beer that has the look that it won't last long. Malt heavy aroma that is both sweet and spiced, but mild in each. Flavor fails to be sweet, which is nice. A light bready malt. Cool, clean, and refreshing lager. I remember trying this in the past, and having it leave no positive impression. This year, it seems like they figured it out. A beer worthy of the full liter glass. Nicely done.

On tap at Wisconsinburger. Pour clear brown with red highlights and a beige head. Taste is lightly sweet and roasty; flavors of chocolate malt balls, coconut, metal. Aroma is roasty, vanilla. Not bad, but the metallic offnote is distracting.

Draft pour pint at Black Raven. Shiny golden pour. El Dorado showcase this time around, and well done. Clean in appearance. Soft grains overpowering hops in the aroma. Cool and crisp on first taste. Grain forward. Lingering bitter. An overall tasty IPA here.

Draft pour pint at Black Raven. Wasnt totally on board wity last years fresh hop beer from these guys, but this was an instant upgrade on first taste. Love the Amarillo hops this year I guess. Big hops, a bit on the floral side. Cool, refreshing flavor overall. Great showcase of the hop. Well executed fresh hop overall. Unexpected, and impressed with this one.

Bottle thanks to Nick. Pours a dark brown with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is wood, cocoa, vanilla, roast. Medium body, milk chocolate, vanilla bean, roast, boozy finish, very good.

Draft 14 oz pour at Black Raven. 2017 edition. Full of Brett. Good stuff here. What if that was my entire rating? It fits. A shiny golden pour with no head. Aroma is a tart apple like front, ton of Brett impression. Flavor is wonderfully tart and refreshing at the same time. Starts to get dry towadds the finish, with the lingering Brett. Flavorful, refreshing saison here. I’m for it.

Draft pour at WA Brewfest. Listed as a "bandwagon-style IPA", which I thought was awesome. A golden orange pour with a thin fizz head. Not much haze to this really, much to my surprise. Grain forward aroma. Flavor is a somewhat dry, earthy grain, with a peanut shell like character. Earthy hop constant as well. Dry side, and bitter. Not terrible, but this was far below what I feel Black Raven is capable of in this style.

Medium brown with a reddish tinge. Nice cherry but also chocolatey dark malts, tart, oaky notes, and a nice balancing tartness. Quite good, and doesn’t seem as strong as it is.
