Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

375 ml bottle from a trade with Adrien. 2016 vintage, gold wax top. Color is Deep brown, small thin head. Color shows me a deep clear brown. Big full aroma of raisins, molasses and bourbon. Taste is light fruit, light caramel, with a mild bourbon with just a slight hint of warming alcohol. Mild vanilla hints (from bourbon) The body is medium plus with a slick body. Not feeling the booze right away, burn comes late for just a small duration. Really, really nice.

22 oz. bottle in a trade with my buddy Adrien. 2016 vintage. Deep, black in color with plenty of full thick tan head with lacing. Aroma shows a big amounts of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts in a big way.

This is a non barrel aged stout without any adjuncts and it is brewed extremely well. The flavor has the solid roasted malt backbone that gives off coffee and molasses notes. Body is full and creamy with a nice viscosity over the tongue. Extremely drinkable with the booze nearly completely hidden. Classic and exceptionally well done!

Draft pour at Washington Brewers Fest. Dark cola brown pour with a disappearing head. Vinegar and dark fruit filled aroma. Flavor is a huge pucker sour up front, with more vinegar notes. Some black cherry. I think a little too heavy with the balsamic for my taste. Sourness 9/10. Fun, but below my expectations based on previous Black Raven sours. Not bad.
