Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

Bottle from Special Brews in Lynnwood, WA. Pours amber with an off-white head. Aroma is blueberry with some vanilla and something herb/mint. Med body or so. Flavor is rather amberish with definitey blueberry and something herb. Vanilla note too. Certainly different. Finishes a bit malty and a bit bitter.

Draft pour pint at Black Raven. Thanks Sara! Didn’t buy me the beer, but you brewed it and you happen to be sitting in the room. Dark reddish brown pour with a lasting head. Nutty, soft roast malt aroma. Thicker body, caramel malt, super easy beer. Nice sessionable beer to stay warm during the mild at best winter we are having. I enjoyed this.

Draft 12 Oz pour at the brewery. So this is what they got to replace the sunthief in their regular taproom lineup. Beer isn’t bad, but still a sad day since I was quite fond of the other. Cloudy golden yellow pour with a wavy foam head. Soft wheat and lemongrass aroma. Flavor is heavy straw, thicker cream body, and a grainy finish with a subtle hop appearance late. Beer is alright. I’d much prefer this in the middle of the year. Looks like this will still be around, and I’ll try again then.

Lots of pine and some citrus. Good balance, and very well done for style. Pours golden amber with decent lacing, not much head. Finish is quite bitter. Notes of pineapple. Nicely done. Draft at Seattle Taproom.

Bottle. Very herbal, spicy nose. Pretty amber orange color with a lacy head. This was very sweet and medicinal, with herbs and spices all over the place. Hated it really.

Draft - Boozy bourbon, coconut, nutty and dark roast. Deep dark clear brown with a rich beige head. Lots of boozy sweet notes, nutty and bitter. The bitterness has a bit of astringency that just ruins it for me.
