Description
In mythology, literature and many cultures, the Raven is seen as a culture hero, a revered and benevolent, transformative figure. The Raven helps people, blesses them with gifts and shapes the world. But at the same time, he is a frivolous trickster, a light-hearted prankster who is sometime gluttonous and impatient. The Raven as our totem works perfectly. We like to think we are creative, wise, playful and a bit bird-brained; just like those wacky Ravens.

The prodigal son brought me this 22 oz bottle back from Washington in the spring. He is in town so we now get the chance to have a sample together. A just-short-of-black body completed by a creamy, dark brown head. I smell chocolate, cedar and grain, a good start. The taste only builds on that. Bakers chocolate, toasted wheat bread, a bit of roast, some caramel and pecans. Nice consistency. An above average imperial stout that was bought at a favorable price.

Pours a nice mahogany from a bottle. Aroma is brown sugar warming in butter, vanilla, oak, dried fig. Flavor is mostly sweet, a faint cola surprisingly. Rather thin for it's booziness and barrel aging. Good beer.

medium golden amber color. Slightly medicinal character with mangoes. Low medium carbonation and bitterness.
Body is way too heavy for the Abv. Not dank not that juicy. Unimpressive

Bomber from Tavour. Mahogany pour with a thick beige head. Peated malts battles it out with bourbon barrel in the aroma, sweet, earthy, malty. Taste is brown sugar, woody, peat, sweet, gentle boozy notes. Bourbon and peated malts balance really well.

On tap at Flatstick Pub - Bellingham, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out gentle spicy hops and crisp biscuity malt. Flavour is dry and clean, with biscuity malt, straw and a hint of grassy hops. I'd prefer more pronounced hops. It's clean and drinkable but pretty forgettable. Decent.

Draft 13 oz pour at Black Raven Woodinville. Enjoyed side by side with the West Coast IPA. Dense, juicy haze with tons of sticky lacing. Juicy constant, tropical front on aroma and flavor. Some pineapple juice. Drinks rather light for a borderline imperial. Smooth taste. Fruity forward imperial hazy here. Overall, quite enjoyable. #hazyisnotaflavor

Draft pour pint enjoyed at Black Raven Woodinville. Tried side by side with their hazy. I'll choose this side of the style every time. Clean and clear, shiny golden appearance. Patchy thin head. Subtle biscuit malt nose with some hints of citrus hop character. A bit of a bite up front, bitter but also a tad juicy. Some grapefruit hints, grassy hops, bold malt lingering palate. A little crisp here. Classic style with classic hops. Will never tire of it.
