On tap at Bizarre, pours a cloudy peachy pink with a small white head. Aroma has plenty of tayberry, gentle wild yeast, and light hay. Flavour is berry-forward, with lots of fruity, lightly tart berries, a touch of wild yeast, and gentle hay. A bit too acidic, but has nice berry character to meld with the wild yeast. Good.

On tap at Bizarre, pours a clear amber with a medium beige head. Aroma is quite pungent on the malt expression, with bright botanical-like caramel malt—unusual. Flavour is more in keeping with the style, with floral notes, toasted bready malt, and a touch of berries. Dry, berry-ish finish. Pleasant.

On tap at Bizarre, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma has mineraly notes, light smoke, and dry biscuity malt. Flavour is pretty timid on the smoke, with mineraly notes and toasted biscuity malt. Very seltzery palate. You gotta do more smoke than this to be convincing as a grod. It’s alright.

16 oz can. Aroma has notes of chocolate malt balls, dark bread. Pours dark brown with a one finger beige head with good retention, settling into a skiff of foam eventually. Taste is sweet and roasty with some mild bitterness around the edges, finishing dry.

Can. Pours unclear chestnut, small tan head, goodlacing. Aroma is roasty, wheat, banana, clove. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, quite roasty with light hef aromatics. Medium body. This is really cool.

16 oz can. Aroma is lightly smoky, roasty, wet stone, caramel, nutty. Pours dark brown to black with a half finger beige head with decent retention. Taste is bittersweet and lightly to moderately smoky with flavors like the aroma. Finishes dry. Mouthfeel is creamy/velvety. Excellent.

16oz can from Tavour. Mahogany pour, thin but sturdy creamy beige head. Aroma is dark chocolate, sweet and mildly bitter. Taste adds some faint coffee notes, chocolate, coffee, burnt toast. Creamy feel with light lingering bitterness. Divine!

Aromas are onion, lemon and malt. Flavors are similar to nose. Fairly dry and a bit medicinal upfront with good body and okay carbonation. Slightly bittersweet in the finish.

Don't know how these guys always get such a wonderfully funky, interesting yeast character to their beers, but even with (assumedly) a classic hefe yeast, it still smells of cellar funk, mineral and light earth, rather than a bunch of gross clove and bubble gum. The weisse yeast is there, of course, with mostly a peppery phenol and very light bubble gum on the end. Soft wheat/spelt keeps it from being too acidic or intense, it seems. Light honey and white bread, as well.
Fruity and wheaty with a soft blandness and lots of breadiness. Fairly prominent bubble gum and white pepper, though no harsh clove. A bit of a letdown from how noble the aroma seemed, but there's certainly nothing wrong/off/poorly-brewed here; it just feels very traditional hefe and thus quite unexciting. Not getting much deep texture or nuttiness from the spelt.

Oh damn....that's...that's just sublime. HUGE mineral with just an ever-so-slight touch of sulfur mixing with funky, berry and spice from the hop. Man, Comet is such a fantastic hop; it's crazy it's not used more widely. There's an afterthought of pineapple essence, perhaps from the Strata, but it looks like they took it easy on that. Just mineral for days with honey-laced cracker-like malts in support.
Lives up to the nose with a flawless blend of rich, honey-like malt that dries out on the finish with light cracker/biscuit. Crisp and well-bittered but not too much so, with mild spice, but no real herb, which is impressive. Yellow fruits and lingering mineral. Incredibly well-balanced at this point (looks like it was just a bit sharp when young) and, it seems to go without saying from Bizarre, an absolute ton of flavor for its size.
These guys really need to get together with Schilling....
