Description

Dutch brewery #561. Black with a thin off-white head. Lots of peat and Scotch in the aroma, along with roasted malts. Sweet taste with a medium bitter boozy finish. One of my all-time favorite things to do when on Terschelling is to go into the dunes at night, accompanied with a hip flask of Laphroaigh and listening to Green Carnation's Light of Day, Day of Darkness. This excellent beer reminds me of and makes me long for that. Well done.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with an orange hue and a small, light brown head. Sweat roast aroma with a hint of peat and iodine. Rich, sweet, roasty body with a low carbonation. Warming booze feel. Luckily the peat is mild. 210323

Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a small and roughish light brown head. Very intense alcohol aroma with a touch of raisins and a peaty edge. Medium body, roastiness, ethanol chemistry and a rather bitter binish. Not to my liking. 080123

0.33 l bottle from 'Het Biermoment', best before January 2025. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty, rather smoky-medicinal aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, whisky, peat and iodine. Quite sweet, malty, gently roasty, fairly smoky-medicinal taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, whisky, peat, iodine, vanilla and wood, followed by a long, very smoky-medicinal, rather woody, gently boozy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very intense, very heavy on the barrel, one for the whisky lovers. Tasty!
