Draught @ One Pint, Helsinki
Aroma is rather light with some berry juice and currants. Flavour has sourish berry juice, currants and hints of grapefruit.A bit watery. Usually I am not a friend of sour reds, but this had nothing offensive.

Old-fashioned and only locally distributed Oudenaards oud bruin, with a thin, off-white head and bronze colour; not bottled, only available from tap in Eine. Straightforward brown beer, malty with estery fruitiness, some iron, rather thin mouthfeel, decent, thirst-quenching. Not the best oud bruin at all but I do like its authenticity: this is the kind of beer that was drunk on a daily basis in this region decades ago, and I am all for the local traditions in this country.

Blend of their regular oud bruin with their kriek, which they make only once a year in very limited edition and named after the buffalo statue in their garden which refers to the liberators of the first World War. Almost no head, colour bronze with reddish hue, misty. Aroma of sour cherries, chocolate, sour cream, hay, strawberry, passion fruit. Estery fruity taste mixed with a genuine presence of sour cherries, subdued oud bruin character with soft malt sweetness, thin and almost watery body, dryish finish because of the sourness of the cherries. I like their normal oud bruin better.

Clear brown with thin lacy head. Aroma has dark malts and a touch of wood. Flavour has initial malt sweetness followed by a moderately tart, clean finish. Only slightly woody, vinous.

25 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 03/12/2014. Very dark (almost touch black) vinous ruby with a small tanned head. Smells is quite weak, slightly oxidized, metallic, sweet spices, faint liquorish, not much to pick up here. Taste is sweet metallic, light oxidation, touch cacao, faint nuts (cue oxidation prob.), higher quality sugar, lots of herbs & quite heavy dried wine branch, wine leaves, faint red wine grapes. Body is a touch metallic but rich. Close but no cigar. Would have liked for more sourness here and no metallic notes. I had expectation, I cannot say that they were fully fulfilled but I would be lying if I said that I was entirely disappointed either.

25 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 31/12/2014. This is one I have been wanting to try for some time. Pours a dark red vinous, almost no tanned head. Nose is simply wonderful, smells like a glass of cherry and kriek juice, the kind you can get a the supermarket in a pack, very faintly vinous, touch tart but mostly just slightly sugary juice. Really liking the smell. Taste is bitter kriek pits, mix of kriek and cherry juice, touch candy in the back, touch sugary and metallic, some gelatine candy, very faintly metallic vinous note. Body is metallic juice, pleasing lower carb. Nice but could use more sourness in my opinion and if they did that and got rid of the metallic note we would have a real winner here. I checked Joris P. his notes and I think that I would go crazy if I could try the β€œunmixed contents of the cherry fermenters”.
