Bottled(500ml). -Dark golden coloured, small white head, fruity nose. Aroma is malty, hoppy and amazingly fruity (apple) with moderate bitter finish and pleasant long-lasting aftertaste. Certainly the best serbian lager.

Bottled. Clear, pale golden beer with a small, white head. Weak, grainy and malty aroma. The palate is thin as well, with malt, grass and hay. No fouls in it, it’s just boring. (061222)

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with ozujsko (thanks!)Poured a lovely dark reddish-gold colour with a small fluffy head that went away fast. Quite fizzy at first. The nose is remarkably fruity... orange, apple, slightly medicinal, some dust and yeast. The taste isn’t far off too... again... orange or apple or peach, slightly medicinal, a strong but kinda crude hoppy presence... man... the ingredients aren’t listed, but this has to have some fruit in it. A very, very nice beer...

Rerate in 2015 (4.6%, 10.9°). On tap, retro bottle, regular bottle. So yeah, they reformulated Jelen at some point. When exactly - not sure. It poured a golden body with a small white head. Dusty, vaguely herbal aroma, slightly tart and cabbagey from the bottle. The bottled versions, fresh apparently, were awful, both of them - with the flavor falling between rotten potato and meaty notes, but with a solid body and mouthfeel for the style. 2 bottles - bad fotato flavored mineral water. On tap - the vaguely off flavors are gone, revealing a simpler, vaguely herbal-hoppy note - still more watery than it should be. Bottled: 3.5/3./2.5/3/7, On tap; 5/2/5/3/10. Overall, let’s put it at 2.3. Old Review (5%, 11.85°) 0.5l can courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!) Heh, this was one of the few Serbian lagers that I really wanted to try, because a lot of people claim that it’s their best one. Well... let’s see what it’s like. Yellow/golden colour, lots of lively streams of carbonation, a big, thick white head that went away at a medium pace. Quite similar to their Pils Light. A distinct sour (almost unpleasantly so) aroma struck me at first when I opened the can, but it went away revealing... a malty yeasty aroma, with an odd dusty spiciness that showed up from time to time. Unfortunately, some hints of sulphur also did. The way some people talked, I thought that this would be way better. The taste is quite similar to the Pils Light, but a bit heavier. The same nice (but weak) underlying fruity maltiness shows up. Hops are there too, mostly near the end, and they’re ok, slightly herbal. It’s slightly oily too, with some metallic hints too from time to time. Not a single flavour really leads the show. . A nice, long chewy herbal hoppy dry aftertaste. It isn’t bad, a good macro pils. 5/2/6/2/12

0.5l ugly can courtesy of ozujsko (thanks!)It poured a clear yellow colour, with tons of bubbles clinging to the edge of the glass with a medium to big sized fluffy white head that went away at a medium pace. Slightly fizzy. The nosed turned out to be malty/fruity, with hints of sourish lemon. Quite nice. The taste is light, and slightly watery but pleasant. A nice maltiness with obvious underlying hopiness (not floral here...) that forms the aftertaste as well. Not bad

Canned (thanks to Jennie G. for bringing this). Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is malty and hoppy with weak hayish hints. Malts, hay and hops in flavour. Quite "crispy" brew, and a clean beer for once! Refreshing and wellbalanced.

A light yellow beer with a disappearing white head. The aroma is contains notes of straw, corn, and metal, while the flavor only has notes of straw and corn, leading to a dry end.
