Description
Searching for a suitable site to establish their first brewery operation in the Caribbean, Heineken settled for the Industrial Estate at Vieux Fort in Saint Lucia as the location of choice. The facilities provided by the site, the quality of the water in the area and the concessions available under St. Lucia's Incentive Legislation, were some of the factors that led to the decision.

As a result, Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited was incorporated under the Commercial Code of St. Lucia on March 11, 1974 and commenced production in November 1975 to manufacture Heineken Beer under franchise from its Dutch parent company Heineken as a major shareholder.

As of February 1, 2021. Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited and Du Boulay’s Bottling Co. Limited (WLBL DBC) is now Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd.

17/12/2025. Bottle from The City Store, Heritage Quay, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda. Enjoyed on Marella Discovery 2 during the sea day voyage en route to Barbados. Another good pour. Third Guinness FES I’ve tried today and this is the best. Aroma is moderately roasted, malty, fruity, camp coffee, dark chocolate. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, nice and smooth, average carbonation. Mellowing roasted bitter finish. Smoothest and mellowest of the 3 island brews tried today. Enjoyed this.

Brewed by W&L. The Lucian version is the base extract blended with Piton and this characterizes the beer. The stout part is roasty, almost to the point of astringency. But the herbal Piton hops clash with the Guinness, rendering the beer borderline unpalatable. I’m pretty sure this is the worst FES I’ve had. 6-3-6-3-12 = 3.0

Old rating from when I went to St. Lucia and on RB it was lumped into the generic FES entry.
