Description
Searching for a suitable site to establish their first brewery operation in the Caribbean, Heineken settled for the Industrial Estate at Vieux Fort in Saint Lucia as the location of choice. The facilities provided by the site, the quality of the water in the area and the concessions available under St. Lucia's Incentive Legislation, were some of the factors that led to the decision.
As a result, Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited was incorporated under the Commercial Code of St. Lucia on March 11, 1974 and commenced production in November 1975 to manufacture Heineken Beer under franchise from its Dutch parent company Heineken as a major shareholder.
As of February 1, 2021. Windward and Leeward Brewery Limited and Du Boulay’s Bottling Co. Limited (WLBL DBC) is now Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd.

Shared this with my wife on our last day in St. Lucia. Black color, average sized tan head. Smell and taste malts, some distant caramel notes, I read a comment saying "snicker-ish" and it does lean towards that I agree, but the chocolaty sweetness is different though. Not a big fan but it's alright in general.

Can at the hotel. Might be just Piton lager but marketed as a special edition so tried it anyway. Clear golden yellow color with a white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, softly grainy bitter, bitter. Average body and carbonation.

Passed this beer multiple times in the store as I thought this was just Ireland's Guinness. Only at the bar of Antillia I realized it's a separate entry. Fortunately they had one at the bar. Opaque black color, full sized creamy mocha colored head. Aroma is malts, roasty and light cocoa hints perhaps? Flavor is malts, roasted malts, malty bitter. Not a lot more to it imo. Oh well, a tick is a tick...

Bottle at a bar. Clear golden color, white head. Aroma and flavor are lightly malts, slightly citrusy, decently bitter. Perfect beer to chug down when you're overheating.

Bottle on holiday in Martinique and Saint Lucia. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, sweetish hayish, sweetish corn notes. When thirsty it's fine but other than that it's pretty much meh at best. And there are bugs here and I forgot insect repellent. Merde.

Bottle in a hell hole apartment in Portsmouth, Dominica. This bottle is not going to cross another border.. this one to me is more licorice forward, with roast, dark chocolate and caramel behind.

Yeah so I actually had to bring this to Dominica from Saint Lucia thanks to one too many rums on my last night with new friends. So, this tick is from my apartment in Roseau, which goes very quiet once people go back to their cruise ship. Anyway the beer is a good looking black with a tan head. It’s chocolate, fudge, caramel on the aroma. Flavour is too sweet but it’s still fairly decent. Medium bodied.

Bottle at a bar in Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia. Kinda needed an easy going refreshing drink right now and it does hit the spot. Exactly what it says it is.

17/12/2025. Bottle from The City Store, Heritage Quay, St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda. Enjoyed on Marella Discovery 2 during the sea day voyage en route to Barbados. Another good pour. Third Guinness FES I’ve tried today and this is the best. Aroma is moderately roasted, malty, fruity, camp coffee, dark chocolate. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, nice and smooth, average carbonation. Mellowing roasted bitter finish. Smoothest and mellowest of the 3 island brews tried today. Enjoyed this.
