Bottle via the online shop. Fully hazy orange gold. Slim sticky glossy topped white foam. Looks the bollocks. Nose has super sticky sweet citrus first off. Clean light bretty oak. There’s notes of sappy pine and soggy stone fruit. Vinous and tangy throughout. Taste has a tangy juicy tartness. Slick and almost smoothie like with fine brisk carbonation. Sweet juicy tart finish. Bosh.

Bottle via the online shop. Third one. Mostly clear pale copper colour. Slim dense lasting white foam. Nose has fruity red wine. Frozen berries. Whiff of brett. Some clean oak. Taste has soft berry sweetness, with a juicy tartness. Unreal easy drinking. I’m expecting acidity, and it doesn’t come. Big juice. Smashable overall. Juicy tart finish. Quality.

Tap. Old Shoe Sheffield. York, mid 90s probably. Mooching round looking for somewhere selling Lapidus by Ted Lapidus. Because you’ve got a mate that’s probably trying to evoke some olfactory memory that doesn’t need delving into. Anyway we got some thank fuck because he was like a dog with a bone and beer needed swilling. So this is the beer version of Lapidus by our Ted. And that’s a very fine thing.

Tap. Old Shoe Sheffield. Hazed deep pink. Solid off white foam is lasting and leggy. Looks boss. Juicy red wine up front. Like a Northern Italian job. Loads of sweet stone fruit. Get some cherry like notes, although it doesn’t have cherry in. Sweet rhubarb. Nicely subtle vanilla. Lightly earthy notes balance the sweet fruit. Hint of oak. Taste more or less follows suit with a fresh fruity sweetness and some of the earthy character adding a bit of dryness. Bit of a citrus twang rounds it up. Smoothie-esque mouthfeel with foamy brisk carbonation. Light juicy bitterness to finish. Pretty unique really. Ace.

Bottle at and thanks to James, 13/04/24. Hazed orange to light amber topped with a decent lasting off white head. Nose is tarte citric zest, botanics, orange peel, lemon nip, hedgerow. Taste comprises damp straw, airy malts, grass, bitter orange, herb, light barnyard notes, hay bale. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a light puckering edge allied to balanced dusty hop bitterness. Solid.

Bottle at and thanks to James, 13/04/24. Hazed orange amber with a lasting just off white head. Nose is earthy fruits, vinous, funk, earthy citric peel, grass. Taste comprises lemon rind, hedgerow, dirt, hedgerow, barnyard tones. Medium bodied, light spritzy carbonation, drying close with a light acidic spring and dusted with earthy hop bitterness. Not bad for the style but not blown away with this one.

Bottle via the online shop. Fully hazed deep orange gold. Slim dense lasting white foam. Nose has vanilla custard first off. Apricot is secondary. Whiff of milky coffee. Light tangy bourbon in the background. Nailed the dessert aspect, especially as the honey addition comes through as it warms slightly. Taste is semi sweet with a moderate juicy tartness. Properly easy drinking throughout. Touch of fruity bitterness. Slick and almost smoothie like. Juicy lightly tart fruity finish. Ridiculous.

Bottle via the online shop. Moderate haze on a medium gold. Very decent thick firm white foam. Lovely swede retention on all three of these beers. Nose has berry fruits. Blueberry and ripe strawberry. Light bright sappy oak. Some light herbal medicinal notes in the background. Taste has some fruity sweetness with a big hit of juicy herbal hop bitterness. Lots of body and plenty going on throughout. Foamy carbonation. Oaky woody bittersweet finish. Compared to the others this is bolder on the bitterness and feels less balanced as a result. I’d still be happy popping a bottle every day of the week, mind.

Bottle via the online shop. Hazed gold. Beautiful thick lasting dense white swede. Red berry fruit to start. Ripe strawberry in particular. Notes of soggy citrus. Whiff of pine cone. Missus gets a bit of marzipan. Behind that there’s pungent damp oak and wet leather funk. Taste sets off a little sweet getting tangy and pithy bitter. Feels slick and full with brisk foamy carbonation. Tangy oaky green leafy hop bitterness to finish. Ace.
