Description
Our brewery at The Star Inn on Church street in Godalming, the site of a tavern since 1832, remains largely unaltered with all its 'Olde Worlde' character and charm. We felt like the only thing it was missing was the smell of hops and malted barley on site. We fixed that.

Cask at the Star Godalming. Aroma has hops and caramel and a hint of veg. Murky brown. Flavourwise it has a sour streak, which is a tad dodgy. Over sieved soup. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Not great. They were efe presumably aiming for a hoppy brown but failed to achieve that.

Cask at the Star, Godalming, South Coast Jolly Boys Day Out 20/09/2025.
Deep amber to brown with an off white cap that thins to the edge.
Nose is twiggy. caramel, orange peel, dusty fruits.
Taste comprises stewed fruits, biscuit, orange rinds, straw, herb.
Medium bodied, soft to flat carbonation, semi drying close.
Not great ... dull and flabby. There was a UT check in for this beer 8 days before we arrived at the pub and I'm confident this was the same cask. Should have been pulled off a few days ago.

Cask at the Star, Godalming, South Coast Jolly Boys Day Out 20/09/2025.

Nose is chocolate, dark malts, tangy fruit esters, modest roast.
Taste comprises fruit rinds, brown bread, dark malts, cocoa powder, toffee.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light drying close.
Passable affair ... felt a little flat and lifeless.
