Description
We are an Independent Family Brewer based in Dudley which has brewing on the same site since 1915.

The Brewery is still run by the fourth generation of The Holden Family and whilst they all enjoy a very much hands on approach to the business, they are still just as committed to their proud history and heritage and to the generations to come.

Cask @ Park Inn, Dudley. Pours clear golden amber, pure white froth atop. Light sweet aroma. Light palate, gentle caramel shades, distant light fruity notes. Decent bitter overall.

Cask @ Park Inn, Holden's brewpub. Pours a deep ruby chestnut, half an inch of off-white creamy foam atop. Dark treacle nose. Taste is typically light, watery but bearing some pleasant dark treacle shades, some roast, cola. Classic mild.

30/7/2019. Bottle from Tuffins Supermarket, Craven Arms. Pours almost black with a good size but short lasting beige head. aroma of black treacle, liquorice, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, nut and molasses. Medium plus sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, above average carbonation. Apart from the fizz this was quite enjoyable.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2017, [ Great British Beer Festival 2017 ], London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX.[ As Holdens Summer Buzz ].Clear medium yellow orange colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, pale malt, fruity malt, light honey. Flavor is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, malt - earthy bitter, sweet malt, pale malt, honey, sharp. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20170810] 6-3-5-3-11

Cask at the Waggon & Horses, Stourbridge. Pours hazy pinky orange with low carbonation. Aroma is sour cheesy apples with some barnyard notes. Taste has raspberry sherbet to start with a sharp sour apple finish.

18th Dec 2018; hand-pulled pint in Ye Olde Robin Hood, Ironbridge Shropshire. Amber body, white crown. Malty and fairly sweet, caramel esters and flavours to the fore.

Handpull cask at the Ale Wagon, Leicester. Tawny brown, clear with a little ring of white head. Aroma is woody, slightly tannic with toffee, caramel and a suggestion of persimmon. Taste is on the sweet side, with lots of caramel leading to light hop bitterness. Some gentle sourness as well in the finish. Not so much to it.

Bottle from ALDI. Golden in colour, with little carbonation but a frothy, white, head. Stone fruits, corn, leafy hope, a touch of caramel, leading to a lingering, bitter, finish. Fine.

Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy - fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, straw, pale malt, light to moderate hoppy, grass, fruity hops. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, sharp, grain, straw, grass, pale malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20160812] 6-3-7-3-13
