Cask at Hogshead, Wolverhampton. Pours a hazy golden yellow with minimal white head, but good lacing. Nose is just vague hints of lemon. In the mouth, there is a initial sweet caramel texture which fades to bitter citrus, with traces of straw and biscuits. Some lemon in the finish. Very swiggable – and none the worse for that.

Historical tick which I am adding as a rate so that I can see the impact it has on my stats. 500 Beers To Try Before You Die. At a Holden's pub in Stourbridge when I went in search of ticks. Drank it quickly and left unimpressed.

500ml bottle, BBE had rubbed off. Amber pour, small white fizzy head which doesn't leave much lacing. Aroma of lightly roasted malts, caramel, grain. Sweet but earthy with some fuggles hops, mild bitterness. Medium carbonation at first but reduced to low quite quickly which is ok due to the medium but quite smooth body. Some flaws but overall a good brew which grows on you and has a moorish sessionable quality at the end; although at 5.1% its pushing that to the limit.

Bottle from Aldi, Keighley. Golden with a thin head. Has a steady hop-malt balance, making it a pretty decent and sessionable English style ale with a mild sweetness.

Pours almost black with a good size but short lasting beige head. aroma of black treacle, liquorice, roasted malt, chocolate, toffee, dark fruits, nut and molasses.
