Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Cask gravity at Merton Winter BF 2016. Black beer lasting tan head. Dark malt lactic aroma. Roast milk. Better in mouth but still a little milky. Roast malt dry finish. Not much of the sorachi pineapple. Some coconut milk. Some bitterness on the finish. Some sorachi comes thru later. Pineapple. Decent condition. Mostly cocoa . Decent just not to my taste.

Cask at Merton Beer Festival, Friday, 26th February 2016 Chestnut brown with a covering of light tan big bubbles. Mostly caramel on the nose with creamy milk chocolate. Hops are muted, this is chocolatey, sweet malts with a bit of dark sticky fruit. A touch of warmth from the alcohol and late building bitterness as the hops come late to the part. Good. Cask handpump at The Furnace, Derby, Thursday, 18th February 2016 in the company of Finn and Rune. Pours black, yep it’s black with a beige head, a little bit of Dime chocolate bar on the nose, a little lactose, some watery coffee, fine without ever exciting me. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.2

Keg at The Furnace, Derby, Thursday, 18th February 2016 in the company of Finn and Rune Mid gold in colour with a soft bubbly white head. Unusual drinking what is and certainly what tastes like a summer beer in February, but it’s still v.good. Light gingery touches, refreshing, a little buzz from the hops. Good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.3

Cask at NWAF, Derby, Thursday 18th February 2016 Pours a hazy yellow gold with a nice mid sized white head on top. Wheatiness presented itself swiftly, really good beer would slip down lovely in the summer. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4
