Description
Shiny was established in 2012, as a small scale operation, brewing in Derby mainly for its brew pub. Now based in the beautiful village of Little Eaton, just outside of Derby. The brewery is based in the centre of the village and has a taproom which features all Shiny’s new beers and one off pilots. Our beer story began with untraditional highly hopped cask beer and now has evolved into brewing a range of cask, keg and cans, the ethos is still the same brew beers we love to drink which means lots of hops! All beers are unfined and a good number of our core range is certified Gluten Free.

Cask at the Barton Arms; light copper pour with a creamy thin off white head, hint of citrus in the aroma, everything is a bit subdued light hop and malt, some vinegar the cask may have turned.

Bottle shared at chriso’s during Garvie’s visit - London. A little gusher! Pours hazy gold with a big, foamy white head. Citrusy hops in the aroma, some pine needles, lemon, pale wood. Light-medium sweet with pithy citrus, lemon in particular, with more dry woody aspects. Light in body with average carbonation. Nicely balanced to finish with moderate bitter lemon rind, mellow pine. Not bad.

Bottle at Chriso going Dutch tasting, 03/07/14 Hazed golden amber with a good sized off white/light beige covering. Nose is citric sherbets, bitter orange, apricot, mineral notes. Taste comprises orange pith, earthy hop, chalky minerals. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the close. Ok stuff but bottom end of the SIPA’s I’ve had to date.

Cask at Tap East - Stratford, London. Pours clear, deep golden-brown with a creamy, light beige head. The nose has rich, bready malts, ripe orange and juicy pine. Medium sweet flavor with a bit of sugary bread, light toast, sticky pine, orange, mango, hints of cocoa and toffee. Medium bodied withfine carbonation; well conditioned. Sweet on the finish with resinous, oily hops, low bitterness, ripe orange, bread, papaya, mango. Quite tasty and highly drinkable. I like it.
