2nd December 2008. Very dark brown beer - light just passes through. Doesn’t look or feel like a stout! A little dark malt but fruity and tangy rather than roasty or chocolatey! Not bad but it ain’t a stout!

Cask at the Nascot Arms, Watford. Reddish copper with a thin off-white head; fruity and malty aroma; sweet with chewy malts and some red fruit flavours; the finish is dry and slightly spicy. OK, but rather boring.

Cask handpull at Market Porter, Borough with MagicDave. Pale gold, thin white head. Slightly yeasty slightly oxidised aroma. Some hop sting on the finish, but not enough to make it interesting.

Cask at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, 09-12-09 Pours warm gold with a white head. The bitterness is quite raspy, pithy and with a grapefruit being the most noticeable fruit in what is clearly quite a citrus flavour, furry bitterness on roof of mouth. Starts sweet but ending quite dry a good beer all round. A6 A4 F7 P3 Ov13

(Cask at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Pimlico, London, 27 Nov 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with red berries, coffee and toasty malt. Malty taste with notes of dark fruit, red berries, hints of roasted coffee and a slightly spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Solid and nice with emphasis on the maltier side.

Cask at the Cask Pub & Kitchen, London on 13th November 2009. Amber with diminishing off white head. Grassy hop aromas are tempered by a cookie biscuity maltiness. The two do not fight or cancel each other out, but flavour the beer harmoniously side by side to give a delicious easy drinking ale just over session strength. pleasant, slightly zingy mouthfeel and a hoppy finish. A good pint.
