Cask at The Hop Pole pubs Easter Beer Festival, Aylesbury in the company of Loz, Chris O, Ruth, Barry, Lynn 21-03-08 Light golden in colour, sweet and fruity in taste but there is quite a striking bitterness there. The bitterness lingers for quite some time and the nose is also quite aromatic though not sure that I got the pine, but citrus was definately there, quite tasty and whilst at first I wasn’t totally convinced of it’s APA credentials I suppose that it does just about tick enough boxes to move it away from the more normal golden territory that Osset beers are most probably lumped into.

Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. A light golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with a light malty note. The flavor is sweet and more malty, combined with citrusy notes of hops, leading to a slightly bitter finish. The body is thin.

Cask at The National Winter Ales Festival, Manchester 18-01-07 Pours dark brown with molasseses, burnt wood and some coffee on the nose. First taste made me think of syrup more than treacle but with perseverance I suppose I could get the treacle helped probably by the aroma this was a bit fruitier than I had expected, quite enjoyable.

Cask@GBBF2007. Golden colour, big white head. Aroma is hoppy and slightly yeasty. Also has some slight spicy hints. Flavour is spiced, wooden and quite grassy and dry hoppy. Good balance, refreshing, but then again quite empty.

Bottle at home ... deep red brown ... nice faom head ...lots of roast fruity malts and no doubt of the treacle, which adds a lovely extra dimension to the nose .... Mouth feel is a bit thiner than expected ... sweet herby tones with some caramel tones ... little bitterness ... little drying little blackcurent, but its the overwhelming herby medicinal tones that unbalance this beer. THe lovely aroma pushes this beer to a pip or two higher than i think it deserves. But actually on drinking rest of bottle it the herbyness mellows a bit and in fact uprate from 3.0 ->3.3
