Description
Portobello was founded by Rob Jenkins & Farooq Khalid in September 2012. Rob is a beer industry veteran who’s worked across the industry in a career spanning 30+ years. Farooq is a brewing and engineering whizz who is just as comfortable designing & building new bits of brew kit as he is devising delicious recipes.

330ml bottle BBE Mar-21 Look - clear gold, small white head, modest retention. Aroma - sweet caramel malts, floral and grass. Taste - sweet, malts, light fruity hop, grass Palate - light body, zingy carbonation. OK Pilsner.

Cask at the Pineapple, Kentish Town on 26th November 2024. Clear copper with dense creamy white foam and scant lacing. Caramel malt aroma with berry fruits. Spicy fruit-mouth with a nutty kick, before a finish of maltiness and the odd leafy hop. Full bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

Cask at the Cornfield Garage JDW, Eastbourne. Poured almost black in colour with a round frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt, light caramel. The flavour is moderate to light sweet, with a light, slightly watery, roasty, sweet caramel, liquorice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask stillage at The Catford Bridge Tavern Beer Festival. Lightly hazed orange pour no head. Apricot jam, orange marmalade & peach aromas. Similar approach in the flavour. Malty sweet & lightly bitter. Approaching the bottom of the barrel methinks 🤔.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A straw coloured pour with a loose white head; bready malt aroma; sweet bready taste; then a hint of straw and a drying finish. A passable Helles.

Cask at the Metropolitan Bar, Baker Street, 15/09/24. Extremely dark mahogany brown topped with a khaki head. Nose is chocolate, nutty, light roast, dark malts. Taste comprises roasted tones, chocolate biscuit, toffee, dates, raisins, fruit slice. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Tidy flavoursome porter.

Gravity cask at the 33rd Ealing Beer Festival, 12/07/24. Moderately hazed golden blonde topped with an off white head. Nose is melon, papaya, soft malts, grass. Taste comprises tangerine, pineapple, airy malts, light breads. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close splashed with mellow light juice laden hop bitterness. Okay cask pale.
