Can. Misted golden amber with a small white head. Pungent green mango aroma with grapefruit, lime, , nectarine, light breadcrust. Punchy and vibrant fruit then building resin but perhaps not quite sitting on enough before bitterness that roars briefly. Good. Thought about 4 for palate.

(Can) Pours very dark brown with small tan head. Nice aroma of roast grain, chocolate with coffee and vanilla hints. Medium bodied with bright prickly carbonation. Nice dark roast grain flavour with notes of black coffee bitterness. Very nice.

These Hawkers comparative series have been going well so far. Clear amber with a good inch of white head that fades to a coat. Aroma of ruby grapefruit, pine needles, mango skin, some breadcrust. Quite sweet before somewhat resinous bitterness. Clean with some dank tropical and herbal citrus. Good - if anonymous (I guess this is really the control beer).

From a 440ml can on 3/2/2024 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a slightly opaque deep brown with virtually no head. Has a typical barley wine caramel and toffee nose, with some dark and dried fruit. It's medium sweet up front, with all the characteristics of the nose again present in the taste, with a light sour bitter at the back, which I understand is typical for a rye wine. Oily and syrupy palate with moderate carbonation. A good, solid big sipper.

Rated at Platinum Beer Lounge. Sweetish, smoky and leathery with some roastiness, hints of wood, oak, bourbon and syrup. Quite smoky.

Aromas of pine, tobacco, glace cherry and orange peel. The pine dominates in the mouth. It's well-crafted but a little one-dimensional after that more complex aroma.

Can. Pale amber, white head that's soon a coat. Shyish aroma of orange peel, some just ripe tropical notes, crackers. A sweet, caramelised edge to the malt melds with orange and kumquat before a moderately bitter finish. Harmonious and subtle but maybe a little strong for what it offers.

From a 440ml can on 27/12/2023 (shared by Ed with thanks). Pours a clearish deep golden with pretty much no head. Has a strong and pleasant caramel and vanilla nose. The taste is very dessertish - lots more caramel and vanilla, along with the promised icing sugar, though I don't get the coffee. Finishes with a modest but sharp and slightly boozy bitterness. The mouthfeel is a touch creamy and syrupy, the carbonation moderate. Unusual but comes together really nicely.

Can. Almost clear amber with a 2cm white head. Aroma of kumquat, pine, breadcrust, some Meyer lemon. Nicely knitted together. Moderately sweet with a fairly bitter but well off-dry finish. Sunny. Four good beers in the series.
