Description
Rudgate Brewery was established in 1992. The brewery is situated at the heart of Yorkshire in the Vale of York. The original brewery was situated in the former ammunition building of RAF Marston Moor Airfield which was home to the Halifax bombers that helped defend our country during World War 2. The name comes from the old Roman road of `Rudgate’ which runs through the airfield. This road led the Vikings along our vale defeating the Romans in their steps. This road and its history is what instigated the main theme of Vikings for the brewery. The brewery expanded into a modern new facility in 2010/11 on the same site.

Drinking horns were in use long before Vikings gave them the prominence we associate with them. Clear golden with a smallish head. Mild hoppy, easy enough strength, slightly floral.

Cask handpull at Nelson Arms Tonbridge. Clear pale gold colour lasting white head. Some diacetyl which I get from Rudgate beers. Some herb hop aroma. It's good condition but not keen on the flavours.

Deep dark brown, near black with a frothy/creamy off-white head and a very soft chocolate aroma. Light bodied with milk chocolate, a touch of roasted malt and a dry bitter finish

Rocky white head on a finely carbonated pale golden coloured body.
Malt, herbal & light hop aroma.
Medium bodied, smooth with a clean back.
Pale malt, earthy, herbal & grain tastes with a bitter finish.

Cask at William Stead JDW, Darlington. Gluten Free. Amber colour, white foam head and aroma of citrus, hops. Taste is malty, toffee, caramel, biscuit, with orangey citrusy hop, and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying tangy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.
