Description
Rudgate Brewery was established in 1992. The brewery is situated at the heart of Yorkshire in the Vale of York. The original brewery was situated in the former ammunition building of RAF Marston Moor Airfield which was home to the Halifax bombers that helped defend our country during World War 2. The name comes from the old Roman road of `Rudgate’ which runs through the airfield. This road led the Vikings along our vale defeating the Romans in their steps. This road and its history is what instigated the main theme of Vikings for the brewery. The brewery expanded into a modern new facility in 2010/11 on the same site.

Cask Conditioned at Oliver Twist, Stockholm
Dark amber to brown color. There are hints of roasted malt, both in the aroma and flavor; the mouthfeel is quite dry, the body stronger than the average, and the dominant flavor is dark chocolate. The final is chocolatey, dryish as well. Pleasant.

(Cask at Carpenter’s Arms, Marylebone, London, 8 Aug 2009) Golden colour with creamy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with mild notes of bread, citrus and apricots. Malty, fruity taste with citrus, grapefruit and apricots. Solid malt foundation to balance the generous doses of earthy hops in a bitter finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. Well made and tasty beer.

(Cask at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Pale yellow colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, grassy nose with biscuity malt and citrus. Malty, fruity taste with notes of apricots, citrus, biscuits and a dry, grassy bitterness in the finish. Light body. Not really exciting, but the grassy, dry bitterness makes it quite enjoyable.
