Description
Rudgate Brewery was established in 1992. The brewery is situated at the heart of Yorkshire in the Vale of York. The original brewery was situated in the former ammunition building of RAF Marston Moor Airfield which was home to the Halifax bombers that helped defend our country during World War 2. The name comes from the old Roman road of `Rudgate’ which runs through the airfield. This road led the Vikings along our vale defeating the Romans in their steps. This road and its history is what instigated the main theme of Vikings for the brewery. The brewery expanded into a modern new facility in 2010/11 on the same site.

Cask handpulled at Scarborough Hotel, Leeds. Oh what a wonderful evening. Real beer in a northern city. Gold/copper with lasting white head. Golden hoppy session bitter. Earthy hop, drinkable, subtle bitterness. Bit like Youngs Ordinary. Enough to keep you interested especially on the finish. Citric hop. Good beer.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm) Pale golden yellow colour, little head. Fresh nose with citrus (lemon) and hops. Taste is grassy and fresh with citrus and hints of fresh hay. Dry and bitter finish. Refreshing, not at all bad but not really exciting.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is spicy and roasted, while the flavor is sweet and quite spicy - I pick up ginger.

Cask at Market Porter, London; 4.1% ABV
Dark amber to brown color. The aroma is too simple, but the taste is more interesting, with a very nice roasted malt touch.
