Bottle: Golden. smaller white lacy layer; lemony and strawy-grainy nose with a subtle papery background; light bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; lemony fruitiness detectable in the grainy-bitter finish. A thirst-quencher.......

0.5 l bottle from an Interspar in Villach. Poured lighter brown to darker reddish body. Caramel and some licorice in aroma. Sweet roasted sugar typical for doppelmalz dunkels, not overly sweet. Relatively thin bodied with sweetish finish with some coffee. Simple, but quite nice and pleasant beer.

0.33 l bottle from an Interspar in Villach. It poured golden body with small head. Weak, slightly malty aroma. Flavor was similar, watery and honey to eggy malty, a bit grainy with notes of cardboard. Typical boring pale lager, don’t get why this, otherwise fine brewery, would make such things like special edition!

0.5 l bottle from an Interspar in Villach. It poured pale yellow body with medium sized head. Lemony and grassy hops make its aroma. Flavor was slightly bitter, herbal, somewhat lemony with weak malty base. Some touch of metal here, as well, but nothing too evident. Maybe also a bit thin in body. Bittersweet aftertaste, short but fine. This is a pleasant pilsener, misses just some body and a bit more malt to be rounded well.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy who brought it from Villach (thanks!) Poured a dark brown-red body with a small off white head that went away relatively fast. Light grainy malty nose. Taste... A slightly more watery and neutral doppelmalz. Obviously malt dominates the taste but it’s not too sweet (not that sweetness is missing). Light, some coffee. Simple, but balanced and ok.

Villacher Edition °08 Bottle courtesy of heavy who brought it from Villach (thanks!) Golden body, small white head. Stale malty, grainy and honeyish nose, some notes of vegetables. The taste is slightly malty, some cardboard, ordinary and boring. Yet another pale lager and not even top tier pale lager. Definitely with Geiserich on this one. 4/2/4/2/8 Villacher Edition (2011?2012?)Ogi found it in Jodl I reckon. Anyway, poured a yellow-golden body with a small, thick white head. Ok creamy-herbal malty nose. The taste is polleny... until it turns to meat. Crap, but fresh-tasting crap. 4/2-3/3/2-3/7. The rating stays.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy who brought it from Villach (thanks!) Poured a golden body with a small head that went away fast. Dryish grainy malty nose. Slightly piney herbal bitter hopiness, very low maltiness (kinda stale), Traces of lemon. Ok pils, one dimensional maybe, but far from offensive and with some interesting hopiness.

03/08 Draught at Biergarten bei Brauerai, the brewery’s pub on a nice location in Villach center. It had murky pale golden body with medium sized head. Aroma of some orange, some fine hops here along with the typical yeast. Slightly bitter orange flavor, rounded with nice malts and fine fruity yeast creates perfectly balanced brew. Light and refreshing, but still, full bodied for the style, it has long sweet but on the other hand dry finish. Some minimal paper notes here, unfortunately. I really liked this zwickl.
