Bottle from Blacker Hall Farm Shop. Dark red. Thin, tan head. Aroma is an odd, greasy, fruitiness. Taste is a dry roastiness. Quite tart. Fairly harsh, bitter aftertaste. No trace of sediment in the bottle. Tastes a bit sterile. Disappointing.

Gravity cask at the Solihull CAMRA beer festival 2013. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is malt with a hint of citrus fruit and creamy caramel. The flavour is medium bitter with a dry spicy pepper, malty, liqourice sweet fruit palate. There was a lot going on! A superb ale.

Bottle from the Chesham Brewery Store. Poured a very dark ruby with a thin, but dense tan head and good lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, OXO and molasses. Full bodied stout. Flavours of caramel, roast malt and dark fruit. Lingering liquorice, coffee and bitter burnt malt.

Half pint, cask at the Blue Blazer. Unclear grey-yellow body colour. Fair white head, fragile lacing. Citrus fruity nose, lightly spiced. Spiced fruity taste on a wheaty backbone. Bittersweet ending. Refreshing. Medium to thin bodied. Satisfying (Edinburgh 09.08.2013).
