Cask at Boot & Shoe, Nantwich (not listed on RateBeer). Pours “bitter brown” with a small foamy cream head and god lacing. Is slow to settle. The aroma is mainly malts with some hints of banana. In the mouth it is very briefly sweet and malty, before quickly showing bitterness of traditional hops which gradually increases. Hints of bran and nuts also, plus later traces of spice and cherries. Finish is dry and somewhat sticky – which rather lets things down as t was decent until then.

Well kept cask ale, half-pint, shared with Finn at Bacchus. Fawn-coloured head resting over a coal black body, spotty lacing. Slightly roasted chocolate malts on the nose, semi-sweet, appealing. Chocolate dominates the taste character, lactose sweetness behind. Rounded, mid-sweet malt-driven close, lightly roasted. Pleasing to a certain degree. (Newcastle upon Tyne, 19.03.2024).

Hand-pulled pint at the Wrekin Inn on 21st March 2024. Clean and clear golden body, snow white head. Hop forward with minimal malt action, neither fruity nor piney, not even hop bitter, strange one really.

Dark yellow colour with lasting creamy head. Has a sweet element like pineapple juice but gets nicely dry and bitter in the finish.

Cask at Boot & Shoe, Nantwich (not listed in RateBeer). Pours a golden yellow with a small off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – just hints of hops and caramel. In the mouth it is extremely bitter but with a slight juiciness, Masses of traditional hops along with traces of caramel and corn. Finish is very dry and slightly sticky. Took some getting used but it’s an interesting beer.

On cask at The Rat & Ratchet, pours a clear dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out gentle cocoa and some earthy notes. Flavour is full of vegetal and cocoa notes, and gentle earthiness. Too vegetal. Meh.
